Contact a local "Planned Parenthood" in your area. They can give you a pap smear, and you can remain anonymous. I think you just have to give them a donation for payment.
Good Luckl!

Monistat will only elevate the symptoms and not cure it . call an advice nurse and they will give you the proper name of OTC med. cheep and it will work. p.s. if you do not have health insurance try a school nurse, or call county. Hang in there.

yeast infections are the WORST and will keep coming back unless properly treated... if it already has come back once, probably a perscription is what you need.
While I love Planned Parenthood, it will cost around $120 to get an exam most likely...at least thats the rate here. Are you on your parents' insurance? Do you have an insurance card? if so, you can find out who your "in-network" doctors (including OBGYNs are) by either calling the 1-800 number or looking up the insurances' wedsite. then, make an appointment with somebody on the in-network list. this way, it should be a relatively low-cost to see a gynocologist.
if you are on your parents insurance, but do not have a card, i suppose you'll have to get the information some how. Your family practitioner can also give a pelvic exam, so if you cannot find an 'in=network' list and cannot get your mother to help you seek this information, then call your family's physician (the Dr you go to for regular check ups) and tell him your symtoms and explain why you didnt go to a gyn.
you should not be ashamed of having a yeast infection-- and your mother is acting pretty goofy about it! yes, you're 18 and can do it on your own, but without her support, it is understandably difficult to learn how to do these things on your own.
by the way, it is common knowledge that when a woman turns 18, she should start seeing a gyn annually. tell her that also!! you need a pap smear every year from now on out!!!
good luck! until you get a perscription, there is some cream you can get to lessen the itch. it kind of numbs it, you know?

Unfortunately yeast infections can be recurrent and often are. Your Mom is right in getting you the over the counter stuff for it. There is very little a Dr will do for you. But there are other things out there it could be like a bacterial infection (has odor), in which case you need to see the Dr. If you already have a Gynecologist make an appointment and go. It should be covered under your insurance, if you aren't driving, get a friend to take you, if it's a matter of the co-pay, get the money from Dad.

If you are sexually active you are surposse to go to the doctor once a year for a papsmear regardless of your age, that is for your own health. With you being 18 you are legally old enough to schedule an appointment with your local health department and most of the time it is free and confidential even to your mother. Get yourself an appointment and get a girl friend of yours to take you one day. Good Luck!

First off, I'd recommend talking to your mother again. You might also consider enlisting an adult - a sports coach, school nurse, one of your friends' mothers - to speak with your mother on your behalf. While a single occurrence of a yeast infection is uncomfortable enough, with a repeat occurrence you are entirely correct with your opinion that this needs prompt medical attention.
If your mom isn't receptive, you need to pursue this yourself. You're 18 and legally able to consent to medical treatment on your own behalf. Actually, you're at a great age to initiate regular GYN appointments regardless of whether you have a current problem - as an investment in your reproductive health.
Is there a Planned Parenthood in your city or town? They can help, regardless of your income or problem. Make an appointment as a birthday gift to yourself. ;-)
Best of luck to you.

Tell her about your fears about it becoming something worse. If you still have it, it can lead to infertility.
If she won't take you to a gynecologist, at least have her take you to a regular doctor who can (and most likely will) send you to a gynecologist. That's what mine did when I told her that I was sexually active and didn't want my mom to know. She told my mom that since I'm 18, I need to see the gynecologist.

You are 18 and don't need mommy's permission, but it IS a yeast infection. And the GYN is going to tell you to go to the store and get Monistat. Get the 7-day treatment and do the WHOLE thing. Don't stop just because your symptoms get better. You have to use the entire thing to make sure you kill all the bacteria.
Now, I think you need to see a GYN when you don't have this infection. Just to have your first visit. At 18 you should go for a routine GYN appointment. Get your first pelvic exam and pap smear. And talk about getting the HPV vaccine. It's very important.

If you are 18 you dont need your mothers permission. You can start by seeing your family physician and then getting an referal to a gyno within your insurance network.
Overall a family physician can monitor and treat simple vaginal problems. They can usually do a papsmear also.
Maybe ask her why specifically she doesnt want you to see a specialist. It could be that she is afraid of the cost. Find out ahead of time what the billing for an annual check up would be.
