you really need to see a dr. just to be on the safe side, however when a cyst ruptures it isn't blood that's in it. also your period could be earlier especially if you've been stressed , lots of things can alter your period. I had a year where I had a cyst almost every month they alternate. if it's the left ovary dropping the egg for your period then it's the left that will develop the cyst. and most generally ovarian cyst are harmless and will go away without you knowing but while it's there you can experience lower abdominal pressure and discomfort. but most definitely see a dr. to be sure.

If you live in Australia, go to a public hospital emergency room and they can check you out for free.

If not, you really need to tell someone. Don't hide this because there could possibly be something SERIOUSLY wrong.

Go see a doctor or go to ER. I have had cysts and this is not normal, especially at your age.

Yes hospitals cost a lot but your life is worth more. Go to ER. Please. Sometimes it is better to pay to find out we didn't need to go than to get sicker. Call the ER and tell them what happened (this is free) they will probably tell you to come in NOW.

It is possible that the cyst ruptured. If the bleeding is not super heavy and you are not changing pads every hour you can try something like Tylenol if your dad says it's ok to try and help some of the pain.

However, if this pain is so severe that you can't function and the bleeding is so heavy that you are changing a pad every hour you need to go to the ER to be evaluated.

Because of the financial situation they may be able to work something out.

Also, as for calling the doctor, they have an after hours line that they can be reached through if there is a problem and if in a partnership with other doctors you have to find out if your doctor is on call so that if they are they can call you back.

But before getting the doctor or ER involved I would recommend letting your dad know what is going on as this is very important.

Hey, girl--hope you're doing OK so far...It's great of you to be concerned about your dad and the finances, but I agree with lots of other posters here--this is not a time to put money above your health.

If you live in an average-sized city, there should be clinics for low-cost health care, with sliding-scale payments. There are also related hospitals that would take you, usually associated with a local medical school, or the county you live in. Look in your phone book for these, or call your local services information number--I think it's 211 or 311. They should be able to tell you where you can go.

Then, please, if you haven't gone yet, go. Take care of yourself! ;-)

are you in pain? if you are, or if the bleeding keeps on or gets worse, or if you feel dizzy or nauseated, go to the hospital.

why'd your doc let you go if he thought it had ruptured?? maybe you mean he thought it had a while ago..

you can certainly call your doc at 11 on saturday night! call the office number, it should give you a doctor on call or your doc's cell number.

that's why the doctors are there, ok? don't die or get worse just for not wanting to call the guy..

You really should go to the hospital. I'm pretty sure you're dad would rather know that his daughter was okay. Hospitals have to make payment plans up so that the people that go there can pay the bill off. You could have something terribly serious wrong and end up being taken there in an ambulance (which is REALLY expensive) and you don't want that.

Also, you can try calling your doctor's office. They sometimes have an answering service that will call your doctor or another one to get information for you. But they'd probably tell you to go to the hospital too.

When I had my cyst rupture I never bleed. Did you have a severe pain on one side? If so this could have been a rupture. Most cysts rupture and you have no problem. What drains out is like puss. Are so my doctor told me. And yes you can get an infection from it draining. I would suggest just waiting and going to see your reg. Doctor. Unless you have a fever are pain you can't bare.

When my ovarian cyst ruptured, I ended up going to the hospital because it caused me to have nonstop vomit because the muscles in your lower abdomen are trying to absorb the liquid that burst with the cyst. It you are in pain, take some Ibuprofen but only take the recommended dosage because of your age
Give it a day and if you don't get better you need to see a doctor
They ended up giving me a shot of quartazone because I was in so much pain. I really helped me to feel better
50% of the population of girls who get ovarian cyst, don't even know that they have them. so they are common and nothing to be seriously worried about
It will throw off your cycle though its takes a couple months to get back to a regular cycle

Either call you doctor (even if they are closed they will have an answering service and a doctor on call to answer your questions) he or she will be able to tell you weather or not you should go to the emergency room. You start by calling the doctors office, they will usually have an answering service that picks up or they will leave a number on the machine for the answering service. The doctor usually calls you back within 15 minutes. If the answering machine says to only have the doctor paged for urgent questions or needs... THIS IS URGENT. If you are bleeding internally from a ruptured ovarian cyst it can be a very dangerous thing... take it seriously! Don't worry about cost if your doctor tells you to go to the emergency room, they have payment plans and reduced rates... your life is more valuable than money.

You do need to see your dr.. I have had quite a few cyst burst and it has never caused bleeding. Usually your body absorbes the fluid that comes out of the cyst when it bursts. You need to tell your parents and go to the dr just to make sure everything is ok.

I'm 30 and I've had many ovarian cysts. What you're going through sounds so very normal to me. They can be so painful both before and when they rupture. I hate it that you're having to go through this.

Take Aleve (Naproxen, generically) to help with cramping. Take two Ibuprofen to help with inflamation. The bleeding is normal. If you're still in pain tomorrow night you'll want to contact your doctor. You are welcome to email me if you have any questions. I mean that, babe!

I hope you feel better soon, sweetie! :)

This is one you need a doctor for. You sure can call your doctor. He will have someone on call who will handle the question. Most likely, they will recommend a visit to the emergency room. Do it. Go. Because losing blood is not healthy.

You should see a physician to play it safe until then to relieve the pain use a castor Oil pack on your lower abdomen with a hot water bottle.
Leave the hot water bottle on for at least an hour

I've never had one ruture, but I have heard the pain is severe. If you are having severe pain with bleeding then it is possible that it has ruptured. Call your MD to see what he suggests.

Yes, it ruptured and is bleeding through the normal channel, so go to the hospital, before you pass out, or have a low RBC count, anemia or electrolyte imbalance. Drink water for that. No Aspirin or blood thinners.

The stomach problem is a sympathetic reaction, and is okay. Tums or Pepto-Bismol.

You will not need to stay in the hospital, but will have blood drawn, and will feel better after a sucrose or saline IV runs for about an hour.

Not a good weekend, but soon all will be well.

Ovarian cysts are a common occurrence in menstruating women and, most of the time, the cysts are asymptomatic and resolve on their own. But, in some cases, ovarian cysts can develop into a more serious matter.

Ovarian cysts are typically discovered during a routine pelvic examination. The doctor will usually observe the cyst over a period of months through ultrasounds to see if it resolves itself. If it does not, or if it is accompanied by pain or other symptoms, the doctor will perform tests to see if the cyst is malignant. Symptoms that tend to accompany ovarian cysts include irregular or painful periods, pain during sexual intercourse or when passing a bowel movement, or pain in the abdomen that may radiate to the thighs and buttocks.

If the cyst does not resolve on its own, the doctor may decide to remove it surgically. At that time, he or she will typically take a sample of the cyst to test it for malignancy.

In some cases, especially when an ovarian cyst is not found early on, it can rupture. A ruptured ovarian cyst is not only extremely painful, but it can lead to serious medical problems. A ruptured ovarian cyst can have potentially life-threatening complications, such as hemorrhage and infection. If you feel you may have an ovarian cyst, it is important to have your symptoms identified as soon as possible to avoid a critical emergency situation.

Hi sweetie,

Don't worry, I have LOTS of ovarian cysts and if it ruptured you do need to get to an ER immediately.

Usually there is pain in your abdomen, but I never bled, so I'm not really sure why your bleeding so heavily.

Are you sure it isn't your period? b/c people with ovarian cysts have BAD heavy periods with BAD cramps.

Please see your Dr. or go to the Er now.

that happened to my girlfriend. she was bleeding/throwing up constantly when it happened. she basically just waited it out. she didnt say what she did to stop it. but keep open communication with your doc. this is important.

she was at the hospital when she "waited it out". i dont recommend keeping your condition secret. you need help.
