it might have been... period blood can be red or brown.
or it could have been discharge
i totally forget what happened when i got my period but spotting was probably in there.
you're doing fine, just keep wearing the liners... you really don't know what to expect your first couple of years because your period will be irregular.
also you should keep a pad in your bag just in case

i don't remember if that happened before my first it has happened to before some. it is probably going to start real soon. your first one should be light and then one of your periods later on will heavier.

I was 12 when mine started, but I had spotting when I was 10. All girls are different, hon. My grandmother didn't start hers until she was 17!
The best thing you can do is go to the dr and have a good check up. Talk to him/her about your worries and take the drs advice. Hey! Don't sweat it, enjoy it while you can. Once it starts you'll have it every month until you're in your 50s!! And believe me, when it stops you won't miss it a bit!

I am 14 and got mine when i was 13 and have had it almost a year. (actually i have had it a year and four days lol) But yes it starts out as a brown discharge. My first period lasted only two days so it is nothing to worry about. Tell your mom(or dad...) about it and ask them to buy you some pads or whatever you believe in using. My second period i had blood. that was a five day period and it was a medium flow. I had my second four months after my first, but it is different for every girl. SO i suggest telling a parent/guiardian about this. As soon as i saw the brown stuff, i went to my mom and told her this "I found brown stuff on the inside front of my underwear. Is it my period?" Just tell someone in your house and sleep on cool sheets. :)

Brown means there is some blood. However it normal even after you have your period for a while. I am 23 and brown still occurs. Since you have never had a period the length of time may be different for you. For me, after the brown, it takes anywhere from 3-6 days for my period to actually start. It is normal though and I hope this helps.

IT'S NORMAL. IT JUST MEANS THAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO START. DON'T BE IN TOO MUCH OF A HURRY, HAVING YOUR PERIOD REALLY SUCKS. jUST WAIT UNTIL YOUR CRAMPS GET SO BAD THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN STAND UP.

Yes..sounds like it was your period. When periods begin...it is only a small amount of dark brown stuff! It's comes in dribbles and drabs.
It will come more constant over time! In about 3-6months.
Let your mother know about it...she can give you more advice.

heyyy, I'm 13 too. when I started, my underwear had light brown like drip things in my underwear and it turns out it was dry blood. Nothing else happened for a month, but then it came heavier next month. So yeah. That is. btw, you might want to talk to your mom or a friend that's already started about it too.

I'm pretty sure it is! Those seem to be the signs of a first period. It doesn't show up when you wipe though, unless you're bleeding normally. I'd put on a light pad and see if you start bleeding. During the night I'd wear something like a maxi pad. It might take a couple of hours to start actually bleeding, maybe even a day or two. But I'm pretty sure this is it--Congrats on taking another great step in womanhood.

i got my period when i was 12... ya i know im wierd, but you can get your period when ur like 10... trust be you will know when u got your period, theres wayyyyyyyy more blood like the second day, my mom told me there was a little blood, bull spit. some people dont get there period until they are like 15... it depends on weight, hight, genetics, all that stuff.
oh and at most schools theres a sexual development health class, its manditory at my school, so just ask the teacher

Dont worry, the blood at the beginning and at the end will be brownish, and it may not stop even if you wipe because its a constant flow. Its ok, when i got my first period it was like that for a little, and when it ended i didnt get again for months.
Its going to take a bit of time for it to get normal, so dont worry about. you'll understand it soon enough
good luck

I feel like everyones kind of different with how they get their first period - that's not what happened for me so I don't know if I can be that much help, but it sounds like that could definitely be a sign that you're getting your period.

I could be the beginning of your menstraul cycles. Young women are typically irregular. Shouldn't be anything to worry about, but it's always good to ask when you are not sure.
This may happen for a couple months before you start to flow, or you could flow for a month or two and then this could happen again. As long as there is no unusual pain, it is probably just an irregular start. Come back again with more questions if things seem weird or you are uneasy!
Also, not a bad idea to keep track of these episodes in a calander until things start to get more regular.
