I'm assuming you're a virgin. I wouldn't recommend rushing into using tampons today just because of the pool situation. I had an accident with a tampon when I was 13. I won't go into further detail!
I suggest that you wear a pad inside your swimsuit/bikini and a sarong over that. When you're ready to go in the pool, discard the pad. Just stay in the pool for short stretches of time.

Don' t go in the pool. Make a sudden excue. Act like you are feeling like you want to throw up cuz you had some thing that must have gone bad right B4 they came...or for lunch or breakfast or whenever....
Hold your tummy the entire time...groan.....
you DO have a half valid reason you know.

I know it's quite uncomfortable, but u will still have to wear it someday. It will be more embarrassing to make the pool red, like wad others had said.

They come with instructions so you could try and put one in following them. It's pretty simple really. You just need to get it in at the right angle. If you put your foot up on the bath or toilet seat you'll find it easier.
If your period is quite light it's possible you can still go in the pool but only for a short time at a go and go to the bathroom after each time you get out. It's probably more hassle than it's worth doing it that way though.
Or just don't go in the pool. Wear your bikini with a pad and just sit by the side of the pool dangling your legs in. Tell your friends you have your period and don't want to go in the water. Or if that embarrasses you then jus say you feel a bit ill and can't swim today or you don't feel like getting your hair wet.

You can either make an excuse and not go in the pool or you can put a tampon in. If you are going to use a tampon then make sure you relax and follow the instrustions that are in the box. You'll be fine.

honey, there is nothing to worry about. but some tampons, they are great for summer and pools etc, they are not a bad thing or hard to use, they are really safe and easy, as long as u do it the right way. in the box ull get a really good instruction leaflet that will help you insert it, it doesnt hurt and it wont get stuck or anything like that. remeber to keep the string down B4 inserting it, and NEVER and i mean never, leave it in longer than 2 to 3 hrs. if u do it can cause TSS or other health problems. Don let this scare you, they are very safe, just change them.
best thing to do is if ur really worried about it, get a close girlfriend to give u advice. enjoy ur pool day!

Ok if you have been sexually active then using a tampon will be a lot easier read instructions on box and buy mini ones to start with and relax when trying to insert one if you tence up it will be harder to use.
I started using them at 14 and not sexual active and i was fine so use a mini one or a lilet as they are smaller.

Buy a box of the slenderest plastic applicator tampons and read the pamphlet that comes inside.
Take your time, relax, and breathe! It took me forever to get my first one in and after that I've loved them more than pads!
Its tampons or no swimming.

You could possibly tell your friends your period just started, and you think it might be better that you didn't 'go in' today.

The best way to try is have a bath so your all relaxed then when you get out put one leg on the toilet seat and then try to insert the tampon, it should not hurt, they are safe to use and I find they are much better then towels and less messy, I think that's you only option if you want to go in pool. hopefully your have a lovely day.

Hey, I can understand how nervous you must be. Tampons seem scary at first but after you try them they are nothing to fear. First relax. Then by a package of Playtex Gentle Glide Unscented Regular size Tampons with the Plastic Applicators. The smaller the tampon the better so use Regular rather than Super. I think the plastic applicators are easier to insert and the unscented kind are better for your body. Next go into the bathroom and carefully read the directions before you give it a go. The directions in the box will give you step by step instructions on what to do and will also have illustrations to let you know how to do it. Now the key is to RELAX! If you are nervous you will have a hard time getting it inserted. If it helps you can take 3 deep breaths and on the last exhalation insert the tampon as you breath out. If you follow the directions the tampon should feel comfortable while inside. If you feel any discomfort the tampon is not inserted far enough and you should pull it out and try again with a new tampon. I hope this helps. I was terrified the first time i used one. If you get really scared ask your mom or someone who has experience to talk you through it.
