Yeah, it's normal. Especially your first time, because most people cannot put a tampon in correctly. The area is also tight, which adds to the uncomfort. In some girls, the hymen (a little piece of tissue across the vagina) prevents easy insertion of the tampon. It will get better, just try using the smallest tampon they offer.

It may hurt because you are "dry". Your body produces a natural lubrication and when it's not present that makes insertion rough. Honestly, being a mother of 2 girls, I wouldn't recommend a tampon for your first period anyway. Your body is going through a big change right now why make it worse by being even more uncomfortable? If you are really worried as to why it hurts, talk to your doctor. Good Luck

the best way to do it when you get started is to squatt. not sit on a toleit. i find it best that way then when you kinda got it in the hole tilt a little so that it sorta faces your butt. make sure it is slighty in before you do that though

This may seem weird, but maybe you could ask your mom or another trusted female who would be able to (not in a perverted way) show you how to propery insert a tampon. It should't hurt. You shouldn't even feel it, once it's inserted properly.

Yes it does AT FIRST -- you get used to it. I remember when I was your age and was visiting relatives at a lake .... my period started and my older cousin was standing outside the bathroom door rooting me on - it is kind of funny when I think about it. Try to put a little lubricant on the tip of it first -- vaseline or something like that.....it will help -- you have to be in the right "sitting" position too -- for the correct angle.

Are you using plastic or cardboard applicator? The plastic applicator glides in easier. You may want to go with the light flow or regular tampon. It shouldn't hurt at all...oh, and be relaxed. DO NOT listen to the vaseline idioit. That will only make a mess and keep the tampon from absorbing as well as it should.

Ok, for your first period, you shouldnt be using a tampon, second, you need to personally talk to a woman that is around you, such as your mother, an older sister, a grandmother, not asking strangers for help. Sorry but this is something you need to discuss with a close female relative or friend or a friends mother. And no, a tampon shouldnt hurt when using it. You should not be able to feel it after it is inserted properly.

It might be that your tense because it's your first time and it feels awkward. Try to relax and not think about it. It will take a few times to get it to fit correctly. So keep trying. If you can't get it to feel comfortable, try using a pad for a while. Or maybe a slimmer tampon. . They do make a slim tampon but I can't remember what it's called. I think it's made by playtex.

Make sure you are using a thin tampon, and one for really light days, also I would recommend using an unscented tampon with a plastic applicator. As far as pain is concerned, it shouldn't hurt, it might feel uncomfortable, but seeing as this is your first period, it is most likely ultra light--use pads for the first few and then try again. You may want to invest in some lube if you are planning on going swimming and are still having problems putting one in.

Well,
when my sister started hers, she put a regular tampon
in and it didnt feel so good, because youre really
suppost to put a regular tampon after having sex, but people still use them. && If it doesnt feel good to you, try mini
tampons, they hurt EXTREMELY less. & You wont feel
them as much either. What kind of tampon are you using?
& It is normal to hurt at first for everybody unless you've been sexually active with a guy.

Try it on the heaviest day of your period.
Or use some lubricaton - something water based like KY, but NOT vaseline or oil based lubricants, because they aren't particularly good for women's internal parts.

For me, I had to use a mirror to find the hole ... I know that sounds stupid, but I am! so I had to.
It did hurt me when I first put it in, infact it still does hurt a little. Is the tampon applicator dry? If it is, try turning it around until it gets slippier.
Are you pointing in towards your tailbone? If not, that could be a problem.
Have you gotten it is? Does it hurt WHILE its in? Maybe you didn't put it up far enough. Try taking it out, and push the NEW one up all the way until your finger tips can barely hold on to the tampon.
If that's not the answer you're looking for, everyones first tampon should hurt even if you're doing it perfectly. Your body just isn't use to a tampon being inside of yourself.
Also, be calm. When you're tense, it won't go in properly.
Hope it helped!

It is very normal for it to hurt at first. Things that help are to angle it at different degrees. Instead of trying to insert it too vertically, I strongly suggest slightly angling it towards the back of your pelvis, because that is the angle of your vagina.
I did that, and it helped so much! Don't be scared if it hurts; you're not doing anything wrong. Just try different angles until you find the one that's just right. Dont be afraid to keep trying and trying!
Congratulations on your first period!!! :))
