Yesterday I went to the bathroom and there was this maroon color stuff in my underwear (It doesn't look like discarge) and now today it's still there except it's more blood like now. Do i have my period? I don't have any cramps and feel normal. I haven't told my mom cause I don't want to make a big deal about something that might not be what i think it is. anyway do you think that i have started my period? oh by the way I'm 12.

No Name	Yes you have just had your first period!! I was 12 too and wasn't sure either!! With time you will be able to recognize the signs that your period is coming!! You can even keep track on the calender too !

J H	if you have what you need at home, like minipad etc., wear it and you will see the difference slowly but surely if it is what you think it might be. be careful it can get heavy for a couple of days & then you need more. nothing to worry about, just to be aware of and plan for. on those days try wearing dark underwear and loose dark pants so you feel comfortable. congratulations! you will know within hours if that is it. the tampax company (I think, or a nother big one like that) has a good website for girls--do a google search.

pinkhaven	yeah....you probably don't have cramps because you're body isn't regulated yet so neither is your period. But you're pretty much at the exact age when it starts. It's important to tell her because she'll get you the things you need, plus if it isn't your period...then that could be a serious problem

la bella vita.	yes i think you do. not all girls get cramps, i don't! so not having cramps doesn't mean you don't have it. you should talk to your mom :)

ebony_316	yep you have your period...it starts off differently for everyone and the maroon color thing might just be how it starts off for y ou.... i kno many people put a big deal on the cramps when it comes to perios but the fact of the matter is that for may women they do not get cramps for a long time...i didnt get cramps until i had my period for about a year... i think many women here would agree if i say that it takes a while for your body to adjust itself to the new change that it is goin through and that may be the reason for no cramps at first...oh and dont expect it to be very strong either....my first period lasted a few days but it wasnt stong at all...my second was about 1 day and it was just a drop... i think you should tell your mom its something that all moms want to experience with their kids...
