Females emit a pheromone from the arm pit that seems to have the effect of causing women who live together to get synchronized in the menstrual cycle.

synchronized cycling is a well recognized side-effect of close female relationships.
Don't think being a lesbian has much to do with it.

That's an interesting question. In my experience, my partner and I had our periods at the same time the first few months we lived together. Through the years that changed, now we have ours at different times. It really messes up our sex life now, lol.

It could put you both on same cycles since it's been proven that women who spend a lot of time together tend to get their periods around the same time. Something to do with pheromones I think.

Women tend to sync up when they spend lots of time together, so yes. It has something to do being available for reproduction so that another woman doesn't have an advantage.

Yes
As early as World War Two, it was noticed that women living in female dormitories soon has their periods in synchronicity, after a few weeks. They have subsequently discovered that there is a volatile hormone, (pheromone), that women produce and excrete that affects other women to advance or retard their menstruation such that all the girls develop synchronous periods. The chemical is secreted in sweat and gets into the air. The chemical is picked up in the node and the vomero-nasal organ seems to respond to it and relay information to the brain. A similar experiment was conducted about 10 years ago where a group of women were induced to develop synchronous periods. The difference was that the women had no contact with each other. Underarm sweat was collected from one female subject and a little was rubbed under all the other women's noses daily.
I do not remember what hormone was identified that had the effect. But a quick google search should ferret that information out easily.

Only in respect that if you live with her or spend a lot of time with her your cycles could be at the same time.

As odd as this sounds...this is so true....when women spend any length of time together, their periods syncronize. I don't know how, but I've experienced it. It's wild....so if the menstral cycles are in sync, then so is pms...and you know what that means! Double trouble! That was always cause for some viscious fights between me and my other 2 sisters!

yes it can. u will find that two women together often menstruate around the same time, either your period will change and come around the time of your partners or her cycle will change. this is very common in lesbian relationships.

Depends on what you mean by having a lesbian relationship. If a woman is just having sex with another woman probably not. But if two women live together there may be a chance that their menstrual cycles will begin to synchronise.
This phenomenon was first studied in 1971 by Martha McClintock and backed up in 1998 by further research.
On the other hand, some suggest that menstrual synchrony is more co-incendence than anything else.

Of course. When two or more women are in sync (think girls living together almost any where) their periods get in line too.

I don't see how it could.
The only thing I can think of is that I've heard that when women live in the same house, their menstrual cycles will synchronize so that they all get their periods together. Maybe lesbians living together have that happen too.

Why am I getting thumbs down for my answer? It is factual and unoffensive. I'm confused by the reaction.
