Heck, yes, it hurts! Especially if it's a bad burn and you get blisters.
And, I've got news for you, blacks can burn, too. It's not common but it happens. I live near White Sands National Park and the sand reflects the sun's rays up at folks. I have a black friend that thought she was "safe" going out there without sunblock and she paid the price. Don't think you're immune.

Harsh,
I'm Black and I've gotten sunburn after being in Palm Springs or Lake Meade for long weekends. I also got it while snowboarding in Mammoth (yes, Black people ski and snowboard)!
The effects of sunburn on me (my complexion is a honey color) was severe peeling and ashiness. There was no pain though.
With White or Asian people, their sunburns not only peels their skin, but it's an actual burn. Imagine burning your hand (not the light part, but the back) on a stove. It will blister and then peel. That hurts!

Hi, just because you are black doesn't mean you can't get sunburn., right now you are just lucky. I used to think that I couldn't get sunburn because I was black but I was in for a rude awakening when I stayed in the hot sun all day one time. The next day I got in the shower, and it burned like the dickens. Then it started to look very unattractive when I started peeling. But FYI, black people get skin cancer more than white people because we don't think the sun affects the same way, but it actuallity, it does.

Yes it hurts! Ever burn yourself on the stove, not enough for a blister, but enough that it hurts? It's like that. Sometimes it hurts too much to wear a shirt. I'm a big fan of sublock. SPF 50!

As a Black woman, I have to tell you that I HAVE been sunburned. It was not pleasant. My skin hurt and burned and peeled and it was ugly. Also, I learned that we ALL need Sunscreen. No, I'm not fair-skinned. Chocolate brown.
