If it is hereditary you could have Anemia. Loss of red blood cells which cause the dark circles under your eyes. Maybe something to get checked out? If it isn't that then the best way is using wet t-bags (the best are Chamomile) and freezing them for about ten minutes then placing them over your eyes. It reduces the swelling and does for your eyes what hot tea does for a sore throat. Worth a try- Good Luck

hi!whatever may be hereditary it can be changed with the help of yoga.yes take it practically.it ll take some time to cure but the effect ll be for permanent whereas if u opt for any antibiotics then i say u not to think of.just prefer doing yoga with a very healthy diet like milk intake alongwith sum green salad which ll moreover include intake of lettuce, brocolli, spinach as well as have sum fresh tomatoes more amount of beetroot.what do u mean by saying that u have healthy diet?include sum olive oil in ur food.everynite keep some cucumbers on ur those circles.also before slleping apply some almond oil on the circles.get ur hb checked .may be its due to iron deficiency.if so have fresh apples everyday.i suggest u not to waste ur money in these foolish things as these can be cured naturally.u just need some patience.follow these tips regularly.it ll definitely help u.all the best.

do you wear glasses? i find that the more i wear my glasses instead of my Contac lenses, the worse the circles under my eyes become.
supposedly Vitamin K will help. you can go to wal-mart and get a small container of it. it is a clear gel. i didn't notice any differences.
what you can do is find a great cover up. i'm still looking for the perfect one. but, i use one that is in a tube and you can brush it on from nuetrogena. also, don't put liner on your lower eyes. it smudges and makes the circles look darker. so, stick with only lining the upper lid. you can also go without mascara on the bottom as well.
when you put the cover up on, don't use powder over it. powder gets in any fine lines and gives you an older appearance. try wearing simpler eye make up and drawing attention to your lips.

I have them too, and I don't know about vitamins but I use a very light makeup under my eyes to hide the dark circles. It works. You do have to check it periodically and apply it again if necessary. I know how you feel..

open the links in marazul's answer. iVillage readers have so many ideas on dark circles under the eyes that it's hard to figure out which issue may apply to you!
but i'd say that heredity is a key factor: i have olive toned skin from a father who was greek. he had the softest skin in the world and did not have the degree of darkness under his eyes (and neither one of us had/has any swelling at all), but then again, due to his skin being darker than my own, you wouldn't notice them as much then, would you?
this new Hylexin has absolutely no scientific basis as to it working for anyone with this condition. sure, it may work for one person or two, but i strongly doubt it would work for 100 of 100 people with those dark circles under the eyes.
i wrote to the company that markets Hylexin on the net (about $100 for a tiny bottle)! i asked the company why it doesn't send out samples and never got an answer, not even an auto answer! so why should i buy it? where is the scientific evidence that assures me or you that it will in fact work? if you look at their ads, you see no money back guarantee, either. i don't believe them. they claim that all dark circles under the eyes are from blood seeping/bulging from blood capillaries, but that sounds too weird to me: you'd have to have some other disease for that to happen. (i may not remember EVERYTHING that i read at the Hylexin ad site, so what i said may not be 100% accurate, you should check it for yourself). but i don't like companies starting out with such a high price for a compound that they won't give me a sample of. i would be happy to pay S&H costs plus a small amount of money to try it, too. but nothing? just a promise? i don't think that company will be successful.
you know what i think? i think that you should read all the answers at marazul's answer because there are so many different opinions. then ask yourself if you fit any of them, if you might have any of those conditions. see your doctor for blood tests and a physical. rule out anything organic. look into your blood line heritage. are you mediteranean? that could be the cause.
what i really want to say more than anything is that everyone is born exactly as they were meant to be. there is not anyone on the earth that is exactly like you, and personally, i don't think YOU were ever who you are before, nor will anyone in the future be YOU.
it irritates me how low the tolerance is in our society for people that don't look as though they are walking onto a set to do a tv show. look around you: everyone looks different. people are thin, large, short, tall, fat, bony, lanky, walk this way and that way. so what is average?
but we are all human beings--every human being, no matter what color, no matter if they are born deformed or are sick, have 46 chromosomes in their cells. they can be black, yellow, red, white, blended--no matter, the number of chromosomes in their cells is the same and that is how a humanoid is defined as opposed to a chimp, that has 42 chromosomes per cell. genes sit on your chromosomes. you are a miracle because you got 50% of your genes from one sex cell of your father and 50% of them from one sex cell (ovum) of your mother. you may have picked up a gene from an ancient ancestor that makes you unique. what you got from them as opposed to what your siblings got is different. even identical twins, PHYSICALLY genetic clones that can give organs to one another with no tissue match problems, are not exactly alike. i.e., one may be homosexual while the other is heterosexual.
so why is it a big deal if you don't look like some tv commercial? i'd say use cover-up that matches your skin color (try out "prescriptives" cosmetics for color match), and if "they" don't like it, too bad. be happy you are breathing!

Drinking lots of water is key to maintaining good skin.
I would recommend that first...also, yuo should look for quick home fixes to help reduce the appearance of dark circles such as:
- cucumbers that you can put around the eyes
- cool/cold tea bags (strained, of course!)
- maybe an icepack eyepiece (Christian Bale in American Psycho uses one)
If its hereditary, there may be more professional solutions - try these websites:

Dear sister,
To reduce the eye-bags and swollen accumulative liquid under your eyes you need to give your eyes a rest from hours of reading from the monitor screen.
Try a visual exercise that requires one to look at distant objects followed by nearer and nearer objects, then look at green grass especially in the morning when the due-drops is still dangling on the blades of the common weed grass, have you seen a cow with thick spectacles, well the remedy was that it was always busy looking for greener pasture because scientifically speaking the colour green is soothing to the retina and cornea and all its nano-fine fibre optic nerves that sent messages to the brain.
Another healthy habit is to reduce the intake of sugar and ice cube drinks since ice slows down the process of blood circulation around our eyes and face especially when one needs to wink a few million times a day to keep the lens moist.Even if it was due to hereditary you can alter the process by positively doing something to improvised the faulty results, and always take time off to shut your eye from any forms of bright exposure like a dark quiet room or wear a Batman's mask with no windows perforation.Okay!Hope to be of assistance but with limited resources like insufficient knowledge if you want the best solution consult an Ophthalmologist.

Try Tea bags, Im not a fan of putting chemicals on my face (I break out very easily) But when I do pull all nighters (Im a college student) I'll boil some tea bags, make some tea for your self, Let them get warm Ring them out really good and stick'em on my eyes for about 20 mins, They usually do my eyes fairly decent.

First of all , congratulations on being so disciplined. Keep it up !
You may like to try almond oil below the eye area. Apply very carefully, no pressure to be applied. After some time , you have to take a wet cotton & wipe it off. When done regularly , it is regarded as one of the best friends for human skin.
You may , however, like to consult the expert before trying this as each body has its own composition & chemical adaptability.
Have a great healthy time ahead !

A lot of it is hereditary but there are things you can do to diminish them, like sleep well, eat well, maybe you're spending too many hours on the screen (either TV or computer). Your eyes need rest too.
Google "dark circles eyes" and go through that to see if there's something interesting that may help you.

i have hereditary dark circles and nothing really gets rid of them. i have found putting things on them usually just makes them worse. Diphenhydramine helps some -- its the basic antihistamine in Benadryl. you can use potato slices for special occasions to reduce the color but its very temporary. mostly learn to not rub your eyes as it breaks blood vessels and make your eyes darker. perhaps thats why rubbing cosmetics on them does no good at all.

I recently ordered a product called Sheer Cover. It is not a vitamin, it is makeup.
I am 47 yrs old and
I never get 8 hrs sleep;
I don't eat healthy;
I smoke.
I always have dark circles under my eyes!
I was skeptical about creams, I tried all the Walmart brands.
But this stuff I ordered is great. I'll stick with it for a long time.

Sometimes allergies or eye strain cause that. There is a cream called Q which I was told works well. Also, look for under eye creams with Vitamin K. These are available in most beauty supply stores and probably pharmacies.
