The vitamins that come from the sun are good for you. Getting a gradual, slight tan, is not bad. Getting burned or frequent tanning makes your skin age quicker, raises your chances for cancer, and can give you sun poisoning.

It is unhealthy. The rays from the sun can damage your skin. It is pretty much the same as a tanning booth. They are both unhealthy for your skin.

As with everything there's two sides to this. With a sun tan you can more readily break down the Vitamin D. Also it has been said to generate the feeling of happiness. But over exposure can lead to skin cancer with an increase in chances of getting skin cancer with even one sun burn before the age of 18

I heard that getting a tan, even if it's natural, can lead to skin cancer if you don't use lots of sun screen. I'm not sure, though. I do know that fake tanning, or using tanning salons, uses UV Rays, which is unhealthy.

People who avoid the sun or ultraviolet light tanning beds may be at increased risk of breast, prostrate, lung, breast, colon, ovarian and pancreatic cancer.
A recent study in the medical journal CANCER estimates that tens of thousands of Americans die each year of cancers possibly caused by too little sun exposure and too little Vitamin D. Scientists at the National Cancer Institute recently found that the chances of dying from many of these cancers was reduced by 10 to 27 percent for people who live in the sunniest areas. Current indoor lifestyles, sun-blocking pollution and sunscreens reduce Vitamin D production, which is found in few foods consumed today. The body relies on UV light to get most of the Vitamin D it needs to stay healthy.
so getting a tan isnt bad at all! dont expose yourself to the sun too much or it wont be so great

The sun is your main source of Vitamin D which helps with ones moods, among other things. So the sun is good. However the O Zone layer is leaving us:( So the suns rays are becoming harmful. So it is good and bad. A mild tan is healthy. A good rule of thumb is that if your shadow is long than you (evening and mornings), it is safe to be out. If your shadow is shorter than you (midday when the suns rays are directly on your body) than one should stay out of direct sunlight. Vitamin D can be obtained from indirect sunlight. So a mild tan is fine

well getting tans can cause wrinkles. just be careful not to get sunburned. I sun tan anyway. also usuallyt an people are less likely to get sunburned. this doesn't mean be a retard attempt to get a tan and then get a third degree sun burn though! just don't try and tan all in one sitting. go out one day for 20 or 30 minutes or something like that and do it again the next day.

It's a fine line. Some sun is healthy. It contains Vitamin D which is absorbed by the skin. But you can quickly get too much. A good rule is to just avoid burns, even slight ones. That's your skin's way of saying it's too much sun.

if you tan it's unhealthy because your killing the outermost skin cells.
I don't think its that bad if your just trying to even out your skin tone.
but if your aiming to get darker to be darker, then yes its bad. Persistent exposure to the sun will make you age faster.

its not good or bad,
but it can be dangerous.
If your skin is very delicate
you can get skin cancer
and get tons of rashes,but
thats more common with light skin people.
If your dark skinned theres less of a risk for you
to get diseases

You have to find out how long you should sit in the sun for.

Any tan on your skin acquired from the sun is damage, even if it's not a sunburn. wear Sunscreen at all times. You can still get your required Vitamin D from being in the sun without tanning.
