DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE AS A TOPICAL PREPARATION. It is a dermal carcinogen. That might be WHY it is not used in acne products. It will increase your risk of skin cancer on every spot your choose to apply it!
You cannot ‘cure’ acne. It is a normal, healthy biological function designed to trap and expel toxins and bacteria from the skin. It is similar to sneezing to expel dust from your nose or coughing to expel mucous from your lungs. However, you can help your skin perform its routine tasks with routine maintenance, similar to dusting which reduces sneezing.
You skin is the largest organ of the body and has quite a few functions:
~ It helps to regulate your body temperature.
~ It helps to trap and release toxins and bacteria through oils and perspiration.
~ It helps to keep bacteria and environmental toxins from entering your body.
~ It helps to retain moisture to prevent dehydration.
Here is how you can reduce break-outs:
~ Clean without chemicals that can be contact allergens that increase sebum production.
~ Protect and moisturize with natural Vegetable oils.
~ Remove as many environmental toxins as possible from your home.

ummm...i do it overnight, but it harms some peoples skin!!!.....the toothpaste brings it to a head, and reduses the redness (slightly)......and salt water on the face for about a min. or two, then put honey for about 10, then wash off, and it should help a bit by morning

It does to some uncomplicated acne. But all it does is dry it out. You might as well use Hydrogen Peroxide USP 3% to 10% solution. It's what they use in most acne medications so you might as well just buy a big cheap bottle of it at the pharmacy. It's a Topical Antiseptic, if you always use it the pimple will most likley not come back.

that's ridiculous. use toothpaste for your teeth not your face. and proactive sucks. i suggest just washing your face with clean&clear or Neutrogena and warm water. moisturize with oil-free facial lotion.

toothpaste is useless for acne because today's formulas don't contain Zinc, which was what older formulas had that caused the zit to dry out. you're better off just buying a damn tube of clearasil.

dude forget the toothpaste. here's the cure for mild to moderate acne cases
1. drink plenty of water clears up the skin
2.wash your face 2-3 times a day
3. always wash face before bed
4.wash pillow cases and sheets they have oil buildup from you sleeping on them gets on your face and blocks pores
5.never touch your face with your hands, the oil from your hands gets on your face
6.keep your hair and hair products off of your face. the oil from your hair can cause it.
7.do not use perfumed products on your face. such as smell good soaps.
8.peroxide and alchohol are harsh but they work. put them on a cotton ball and put on blemish
9.take a Multivitamin
10.exercise regularly, increases blood flow and will make your face clear
11.eat a healthy diet. good nutrition is good for skin
12.the sun gets rid of acne
13.Vitamin E works great for skin and elasticity of the skin
14.good luck.
