Once the skin settles down (so it's not so red and painful) you can exfoliate -- that might help turn the burn to more of a tan.

It should be ok by then, the key thing is to put alot of lotion on it. Lotion keeps it moisturized and keeps it from peeling or anything. Any kind of lotion will work, something with good moisturizers.

Go talk to a dermatologist. This is 2008. Whether you have lots of Melatonin or not, the suns rays in large whopping doses is harmful. Think of folks in the desert, they don't walk around uncovered.
If you choose to, a doctor will steer you to the right sunblock.....I think we're talking 30 or above on arms and face. You need treatment as a sunburn is a burn and will be bad later in life.
Forget the guys opinion, it needs treatment.

As an RN I can tell you bad sunburns are nothing to fool with. You actually have cooked flesh (sorry to be so graphic) and that is nothing to fool with. I suggest a good aloe vera gel. It will help you to heal faster and keep down the unsightly peeling...some. Also drink a lot of water to replace what you are losing through the burns. If you develop a fever you would be wise to contact a doctor. It would not be unheard of for you to develop an infection on the really badly burned areas. In years to come keep a close eye on these badly burned areas for any signs of what could potentially be skin cancer. Early detection saves lives. Good luck. I hope you are picture perfect for your date.

Aloe makes the reddness go down faster, and soothes the sunburn, but I don't think that it will go fully down that quikly. I'm sorry, and wish you luck!

It shouldn't be to long. If your burn hurts, put some alo jel on the burn. Its a green jel that you keep in the fridge. You can buy it at a convienant store.

aloe is good...but if you are close to a tanning salon....buy a bottle of "insurance" it's great....in alabama, it's about $20 It will take the burn away instantly and tan!
Make sure you take some Tylenol - that will help with the pain, but also...a lot of time when your skin is burnt, your body thinks you have a fever and you can get an ugly cold sore on your mouth!!! they hurt and ugly! the Tylenol will help prevent that....if your lip starts tingling....go to the drug store and get abreve and start using a small amount like lip gloss...that will prevent a cold sore, too! These are my secrets when I cruise!

1) Put some cold water on the stomach
2) Ice it for about 15 minutes
3) Put some aloe vera gel on it.
At night, soak in water with a few tea bags in it. (i use Rooibos tea. it's known for helping out with sunburn)
Then, put on aloe vera gel.

smooth on aloe vera gel several times a day until friday, whenever you feel it drying out, put some more on, it works wonders for taking the heat out of a sunburn, even better when you keep it in the fridge, hubby mowed the lawn w/o a shirt on a couple weeks ago and was COOKED, I was actually a little worried about it, but every couple hours we would rub some on his back strait from the fridge and it browned out WAY faster, hope it helps!

Yes aloe does work very well and it also cools it off. It might take a few days until the burn goes away. Just keep the aloe on it and it will go in no time. :)

-Use aloe vera lotion and gel to heal faster
-Take a cold bath, (NOT SHOWER!!!) to relieve the burning.
-Rest. It's just like being sick, your body needs rest to get better.
-if you are still burnt by friday and you feel like crap, tell this boy that you are sick and if he gets mad then don't go out with him again because a real boyfriend would understand.
-Noxema Deep Cleasing Cream helps too!
Also: There is not a guarrantee that you will be tan.

I'm extremely fair skinned (the lightest in my family). When I get a bad burn, I use a spraybottle filled half with white vinegar, and half with water.
You don't smell that pleasant, but it feels great, and seems to heal faster. I'm not sure if it will be totally gone away within todays, but you'll certainly be more comfortable by then if you use the vinegar. Shower it off before you meet with him, though. ;)

If you go out in the sun, you oughta put on sun tan lotion. The sun is not a s friendly as it was 20-25 years ago, and it is actually very harmful and can cause skin cancer.
Just don't relax too much in the sun and don't bother for the change colour of your skin. you get one you get one, if you don't get one that's ok. Dont' risk getting skin cancer.

You may well still be burnt on Friday, and/or peeling. Use after sun lotion and moisturisers to reduce the chances of unsightly flaking skin.
Next time, use a high factor Sunscreen or cover up in the sun. You are placing yourself at a very real risk of skin cancer.
Oh and lastly, I wouldn't be put off a girl just because she had sunburn! Give us guys some credit, will ya?
