I got a MAJOR sunburn... Help, PLEASE!?
|
i was camping this weekend and was in the ater all day one day and i thought i put enough sunscreen on, but i guess not because i got BADLY burnt on my legs, back, shoulders, nose, arms, and the top part of my chest. I am very pink everyhere, it stings to go into the sun, and if i touch anywhere were im burnt, even if i barely touch my skin, it hurts really bad. How can i make it go away faster and/or make it hurt less?
Please help, this is the orst sunburn ive ever had, even though i get them all the time!

Ibuprofin, stay indoors, light clothing. If it feels good, you can sit in a cool-warm bath. When the heat starts to go out of the sunburn, put an aloe based lotion on your skin. Wear a foundation or cream with at least a 30 spf in it.
DO NOT GET A SUNBURN FOR ANOTHER YEAR. The risk of skin cancer doubles.
Also, don't do silly things like put butter on your sunburn...I know, it sounds stupid, but it's an old wives tale that says it will heal your sunburn faster. It actually keeps the heat in.
Good luck!

i had a burn that bad,but i worked at a hospital and one of the childrens doc got me a free tube of med.because if it hurts that bad its prob not a regular sunburn.they put burn cream on me.
there are different things you can do if you dont want to go to the doc now.aloe plant.it stings a lil but helps heal the burn/skin.break off a piece of the leaf and squeez out the aloe and gently put it on.it may stink a tiny bit real fast or not.
you cant get any better than pure aloe.

Put viniger on a paper towel or rag and lay it on your skin for a while, it takes the heat out of the burns and makes them feel sooo much better,
also keep lots of aloe vera on it that helps alot too, take a cool not cold but cool bath that'l help alot to,
and ive never tried this but ive heard that if you put a tomato in the refrigerator and get it cold then slice it and lay it on your skin thats supposed to help,
i hope you feel better soon

They sell Vitamin E oil at Walmart for 5-6 dollars. It works really fast to cure sunburn. Usually mine turns to a tan within 24 hours.

Take vinegar and rub that with a cotton ball on your sunburn. You may smell like a pickle but it truly helps with the sunburn.

It hurts because it is STILL burning. Please try this: Pour some vinegar into a bowl. Mix it with an equal part of cool water. Soak a washcloth in the solution, and then lay the wet washcloth on your sore parts. Leave a few seconds, and then pull off. Wring out the "heat" that is pulled out of your skin (into the sink). Then, do it again and again until the heat is pulled out. Act quickly, there is only a small window of opportunity here. THEN you can do the things everybody else suggests: Aloe Vera, etc. etc. ALSO - If you have any Epsom salts laying around (most people don't, but I thought I'd mention it) DEFINITELY take a cool Epsom salt bath! The salts "pull" toxins and things out of the skin. Good luck and hopefully you feel better tomorrow!

First, go take a cold shower. It will take the heat off. Stay out of the sun, as your skin is super sensitive right now. Take an Aspirin or other anti inflammatory and get some aloe lotion. Most pharmacies sell gels for sun burns.

Try putting some vinegar on a towel and placing it on the areas that are burned. It is supposed to take the sting of the burn out. Sounds crazy but I know people who live by this treatment.

I know that you've probably heard the aloe vera thing A LOT...believe me...but it really does help if you keep reapplying it. If you store it in the fridge, it can give you more of a relief when you first put it on.
Ice packs (in small amounts of time) and cold cloths or compresses will also help to minimize the length of time that you have redness and should help with the swelling.
Take lukewarm (room temperature) BATHS. Taking showers with too high of a water pressure could increase your pain. Taking a too-cold bath won't help, and will make you freezing. And a too-hot bath runs the risk of burning you even more, or irritating the burn that you already have.
Make sure that you drink PLENTY of water, in order to keep your body hydrated so you don't develop a fever. If you do develop a fever, take an Acetaminophen or an Ibuprofen to help get rid of the fever and to minimize inflammation and swelling.
If your sunburn is really bad and seems to be very painful, you may want to go see your doctor and get a prescriptive treatment.
