good god.. does anyone take science classes?
Lymph system is a drainage system to take interstitial (no I refuse to define this) fluid and bring it back to the blood. The nodes are enlarged areas where lymphocytes do their work of killing mean things (like republicans) that can make you sick. Oh you spelled color wrong. Can I say go to 5th grade again and maybe again

it grows in the lymphatic system under the skin...like when your have a sore throat and your throat is swollen,,,the lympths are full and not draining fast enough which causes fluid to back up in turn causing swelling

They are way underneath your skin. Are you talking about an infection? You can see it if they get very big. Underneath armpits is where you will usually the easiest way to find them.

Actually, under your jaw and the sides of your neck is the easiest way to know if you have an infection.
They are small bean-shaped parts of the lymphatic system that drains fluid outside blood vessels which is called lymph.
Lymph nodes produce immune cells to help fight infection. They also filter the lymph fluid and remove foreign material, such as bacteria or cancer. Common areas where lymph nodes can be felt include the armpit, behind the ears, and sides of the neck or under jaw.
And to Lexie...lymph nodes in and around the armpit are some of the first places to travel when breast cancer spreads... so if your getting them there all the time maybe you should be checked? Mainly when there is an infection, your lymhpnodes in your neck are the easiest ones to find...

lymph nodes are buried all over the body. depends on the area you are talking about as to whether it can be felt. There are many many nodes. Some when swollen can be seen, like a ring around the neck. some in the abdomen might not be able to be seen if swollen.

Its like a bump under your skin, a boil , or a lump that you cant pop.
I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.
Here is a link :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradenitis_suppurativa
If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.
There is some support groups at MSN
(http://groups.msn.com/HidradenitisSupportClub)
and yahoo, and I am open for questions!
I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did.

it grows under the skin.
and you normally can't see them.
but sometimes if you get sick or something...(like with strep throat) they swell up.
and if that happens then you can sometimes see them popping out form under the skin.
