renee	you can not get rid of herpies, but you can take a pill for it, i think it is called Valtrex it helps get rid of outbreaks. but you can still pas it on, do not have sex when you have an outbreak or think you are getting one, and allways wear a condom. and if you are not going to wear a condom tell him/her it is important and the rite thing to do. Susie G	Just to let you know, wearing protection, DOES NOT mean you can't spread the disease - these people on here are stupid with their answers. Make sure you go see a Dr immediately, and get on Valtrex. It will help supress the outbreaks and make you have less outbreaks as well. It's a great drug for this unfortunately, permanent disease. We all make mistakes - as long as you learn from them - that is what matters most. Hang in there - just because you have herpes, doesn't mean it's the end of the world. It can be brought about when you are under alot of stress, it can rear its ugly head when you are sick and your immune system is weakened.. It can go for years without a flare up as well. Use protection when having sex because it can be spread without having an active outbreak.. dont' be the giver of this gift and be remembered forever for that. NONAME	herpes is an incurable virus... all you can do is take your Valtrex and hope you never get another outbreak.... oh yea and wear a condom Im reading some of your answers and people are saying it depends on the strain of herpes...no...no herpes are curable not herpe simplex1 nor 2...they can go into a dormant stage in your body and seems to be gone, aslong as your immune system is healthy but it cant be cured...herpes is something you have to live with forever....if you ever had a cold sore on your lip it mean you have herpes...and you can spread that to someone else by kissing them or you can give someone genital herpes with it if you perform oral sex on them.... sunshine	Honey, Herpes is a virus and stays with you for the rest of your life. There is no cure but there is treatment available. Speak to your doctor about getting on daily suppressive therapy like Valtrex. Now, even though you are on treatment or not, you still can pass Herpes on to your partner(s) even if you are not having an outbreak. I cant emphasize this enough, discuss this with your partner and use protection or abstain...always be upfront about it. Wish you well.
