I have a question from one of my friends... Can you answer, please?
|
Okay... my friend has never has sex or done anything like that. but on her pubic region she says that the clitoris (or however you spell it) itches and if she does like rub down there then it gets swelled and red and puffy. She does not know what to do. and when water hits it of when she just gets out of the shower it burns. What do you think it is? Additional Details Plus, she has been sick a lot this year. Like with the flu symptoms. Her mom has medicine Vigania cream or something like that... would that help it. she is afraid to tell her mom bc she does not want her to freak out and assume she is having sex and/or stuff like that...

You've had some good advice already, but there is one more possibility...she could have some debris stuck between the hood and the clitoris, which would cause considerable irritiation.

i think its a yeast infection. it is curable and only takes a few days to get rid of it.. btw so she has nothing to worry about. Lots of women get yeast infections of all ages, infact, I had one last year for the first time from irritation of body soap.. tell her to go get it checked with her doctor / OB GYN ..

she could have some sort of infection, like a yeast infection. or she could be having a skin allergy reaction (say if she is allerigc to the laundry soap) Either way going to see a doctor is in order, but switching to a hypo allergenic soap may help

It sounds like she has thrush. It is just a build up of yeast and nothing too serious. She will need to get some cream from the chemist or it will get worse.

You don't say how long this has been going on, but I assume that it is a very recent problem.
The most likely causes are:
Vaginal thrush - The itchiness makes this a distinct possibility, and the soreness when you pass water should be only on the outside and is caused by the urine getting onto inflamed skin and making it hurt. You should not be going to pass urine more frequently than normal. Sometimes, but not always, there is an associated vaginal discharge, which is usually whitish or yellow. Thrush is caused by a yeast infection called monilia. Thrush is commoner in women on the contraceptive pill, and especially after a course of antibiotics. If you think these are your symptoms, then it is worth buying an over-the-counter treatment from the chemist to see if that gives you relief. Daktarin cream or Canesten cream would be suitable, or if the itching is a real problem you could try Canesten Hydrocortisone. If things to not settle rapidly you should still see your doctor as planned.
Urine or bladder infection (cystitis) - This does not usually make all your genitals sore, but just hurts when you pass water. If you get stinging and soreness that seems to go up inside, and you are wanting to go to pass urine all the time or more frequently than usual, then a bladder infection is most likely. If this is the case, you should drink plenty of water, and you could try an over-the-counter remedy from a chemists to help ease the symptoms until you see your doctor. You could try Effercitrate, which is cheap and helps ease the burning on passing water, or Cymalon, which may also give relief. However you should still see your doctor to make sure there is no continuing infection even if your symptoms improve, as you might need an antibiotic. If the symptoms get worse, or you become unwell, feverish or start to pass blood in your urine, you should not wait until next week to seek medical help.
Allergy - It is possible to get allergic to materials that are next to you skin (like in underwear, panty liners, jeans,) so if you have recently bought something new, it could be that. Also, it might be something you are washing your clothes in, like a fabric softener or a biological washing powder. Avoid new clothing or biologically washed clothes for a while if you think that might be the cause. It is also possible to get an allergy from using a vaginal deodorant spray or douche, so again, stop using one if you think this might be the cause.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!

the clitoris will definitely get reddish and puffy when you rub it bcoz it is has erectile tissue (it erects when stimulated---will bcomereddish and puffy)
she must have scratched it that's why it burns when she hits it with water..
tell her not to panic and just keep it clean down there so it wont get infected.. :-)
nurse here!

She needs to go to the doctors, it doesn't sound right. If she's not having sex then she needs to trust her mother.
