Kerby M	Canker sores are different from herpes (which I think is what you are referring to) also known as cold sores. There are two types of herpes, Simplex A and Simplex B. Most genital herpes are type B. It is very rare for you to suddenly have a sore on your mouth after visiting your girlfriends nether areas. If you have had a least one cold sore in the past then you will always have a sore pop up from time to time. Mouth herpes can also be transfered from lip to lip contact if there is an open sore present. If your girlfriend had open sores on her vagina and you came in contact with them with another open sore than you could pass the disease. Herpes is not contagious if it is kept under control with medication and there is no contact between open areas during an outbreak. If you are unsure and you and your girlfriend can always get tested just in case. Its a good habit to get into if you are sexually active to get tested regularly along with your partner as well. bahamabreeze06	I got oral herpes from a drunk nite truth and dare kissing a girl, my mouth swelled huge, i couldnt eat cause my gums would randomly bleed and u couldnt see my teeth,at the time id rather shoot myself then brush my teeth, had 104 fever and migranes never once got a canker sore, and my docter and dentist both told me id never get it again. It was the worst thing that has ever happen to me. They said it was so bad because my body has never came in contact with the virus, and since alot of people carry the virus in their system and i didnt that why i reacted so badly... but havent had any problems since. They are not Herpes as they are caused by bacteria in your mouth and they manifest if you are under stress (as to have to perform oral s--). So follow this: 1. Eat 2 yoplaits (yogurt) a day 2. LINDSEY S	cold sores and canker sores are totally different and not related to each other canker sores are caused by a fungus build up. i get canker sores as well as cold sores. the symptoms for both are different. u should be concerned if they are COLD sores NOT canker sores since canker sores are NOT contagious but cold sores are. cold sores are the herpes simplex virus, the oral type, not canker sores.
