Michi C	Your name says it all. You do not have hiv. It can not live outside the human body very long so if it was sitting in a container, the virus already died so it can not hurt you. It would take 3 months before it would show up on a test anyways so a test now would be useless, but a test in 3 months would be useless too since you definately did not catch it. I was told I had HIV by a doctor because I was in a high risk country and had a high risk situation, so I was freaking out and went to the doctor at a free clinic (I should have known better). He was a doctor that probably failed med school and thats probably why he was in a free clinic, but he told me I had HIV and sent me to the emergency room (He didnt even know of any other places to send me for testing). So I left his office and went to the hospital and was tested. Negative. Got a test again 6 months later. Negative. I had all the symptoms of HIV because I was freaking out so much and the stress lowered my immune system which caused me to have all the "symptoms". A common cold will bring on the same symptoms so symptoms are definately not an indicator of HIV. Because of that experience I ended up becoming an HIV counselor so nobody is given wrong information again. Regardless of what people think, HIV does not need to be blood to blood contact. Its fluid to fluid contact. You do not need an open cut in order to get it. If you wiped your *** with something that had blood on it, that would require a cut most of the time but its definately possible to catch it otherwise. All the information on the internet is about the subtype-b strain of HIV. Many doctors are not even aware of the other types of strains which behave differently. In USA we have subtype-b strain, in Thailand they have subtype-e. In order for someone to catch subtype-e, all that is needed is that it touches a man or womans "private parts". It does not even have to be fluid to fluid, just fluid to body. It attaches itself to the langerhans cells which are in the skin of a persons private parts. HIV is found in all fluids of the body(urine, blood, breast milk, semen, vaginal secretions), although saliva has the smallest concentration so it would be extremely unlikely for someone to catch it from saliva exchange and theres no tests that prove its even possible. Besides, even if you did have it, which I am sure you dont....your average person with HIV is now living on average 25 years because of medicines available today. So even if you did have it, you would most likely live 25 years as long as you take medicine everyday, and within 25 years I'm sure they will have even more advanced medicine which will prolong that and allow you to live a long healthy life. That scare of HIV I had caused my immune system to drop so much from stressing that I developed all kinds of skin conditions since they take advantage of low immune system. I now have Seborrheic Dermatitis on my face, which makes my face real red and sometimes flaky during winter months. This is a permanent disease that there is no cure for, so worrying about HIV too much may cause you to actually develop diseases you didnt already have, so just relax and stop thinking about it before you make yourself sick with other things. Your local health department does free testing. Its government funded so every town has one. Most of them use the rapid test, which is just a poke on your finger and the results come back within 20 minutes. If you did have HIV, which I'm sure you do not, getting tested would be very important because you would want to start medications before it progresses into AIDS(This usually takes between 8-15 years). However, its definately possible that you could have created another type of disease other than HIV from what you did so I would see a doctor and get all the tests as soon as possible. azi	U said that u did no 2 there.If the tissue had blood on it nd even if it had HIV virus u r not infected.Because the virus need to get into ur body and thats only possible through your blood.No 2 doesnt go inside rather it comes out and that too without blood.So dont worry Was this answer helpful to you? sexyonee	hiv does not have symptoms at first. they will be slight flu symptoms. the only way you would be able to catch it is if there was wet blood that came into contact with a cut on your body. if you are that worried you can ask your doctor for a blood test or order one online theyre about 50 dollars. just poke your finger and send back the sample. i would doubt you have it but next time dont use tissues you find that someone else used. That One Dude	here are the main symptoms of HIV 1. Rapid weight loss 2. Dry cough 3. Recurring fever or profuse night sweats 4. Profound and unexplained fatigue 5. Wollen lymph glands in the armpits, groin, or neck 6. Diarrhea that lasts for more than a week 7. White spots or unusual blemishes on the tongue, in the mouth, or in the throat 8. Pneumonia 9. Red, brown, pink, or purplish blotches on or under the skin or inside the mouth, nose, or eyelids 10. Memory loss, depression, and other neurological disorders Homie, just never EVER, go to a Unisex bathroom, ESPECIALLY IN WALMART! I suggest you do some more research on HIV and symptoms. JessLa	I really, really doubt you have HIV. HIV has to travel through your blood stream and unless you have a cut down there, there is no way to have any blood that was on that tissue get into you. If you were going to get tested for HIV, I think you have to wait 6 months from when you were infected (if you were, which I doubt). I'm also not sure how long HIV lives outside the body but I don't think it's long, so if it was on that tissue, the virus would have died by the time you touched it. M & M	the blood or contamination would have to get into your bloodstream. If you had any open cuts then that is a possibility.There is free testing for this at certain clinics. Smokkee	Trust me, EVERYONE is afraid to check HIV or AIDS. This is understandable. The thing is, with all of the medical advancements going on (even though there is no cure), a person still may be able to live a decent life even with HIV. The only way one can do this is to get tested. From what you are saying, I think you are nervous because you have been sexually active, although it is quite possible you could have used a tissue from a tampon disposal can(???). If you are sexaully active, remember that routine check-ups (3 to 4 a year) is the best way to combat the issue, along with educating yourself about STDs of course. I hope I was able to help. sailor_chronos	Those little containers you see on the walls of bathroom stalls are meant for disposal of tampons and sanitary napkins. There is certainly a risk of catching something if you came into contact with the bodily fluids of someone else. You must insist to your mother that it's very important that you get tested, plus it's better for your health and peace of mind than waiting. Bear in mind that it takes several weeks or longer to get HIV test results back. Good luck. By the way Kelly S - there is no cure for HIV. IZZIE	Uh yeah you are 99.99% most likely dont have it ! Relax your being a hypochondriac right now ! Thats crazy you would wipe yourself with a bloodied tissue ,,but thats another story .
