Judge Judy is Back!	I just saw a show about this on Discovery the other night. There are different kinds of herpes. Genetal herpes you only get through sex but the herpes that you get on your mouth (which are really just cold sores) are transmitted through saliva. On the show I was watching this lady died because she got herpes from kissing a guy in a bar and her immune system wasn't working right and it spread throughout her organs and her liver failed within 2 weeks. mayflower25	Yes. I got genital herpes from receiving oral sex from a man. Cold sores on the mouth are oral herpes and if the virus is transfered mouth to genitals it causes genital herpes. Although my boyfriend had had cold sores in the past, he didn't have one at the time. It is quite easy to pass oral herpes when there isn;t a visible sore, although it is most infectious when a sore is on his mouth. However, 70% of cases are caught from partners not showing symptoms. And unfortunately 8 out of 10 men have oral herpes - even if they don't remember having a cold sore (most people never show symptoms of their infection). People who have never had symptoms can still be infectious. If you do not have oral herpes yourself (having it provides some proteciton) there is a definite risk - both I and my sister, who never caught cold sores as children, caught genital herpes from receiving oral sex as young adults. In fact up to half of all cases of genital herpes in women are caught this way. Where I live, in the UK, it is 60%+ cases of genital herpes caught this way. Oral sex can be risky.
