What can I do about my snoring husband?
I'm losing my mind here! lol :-)

Well, I also have a 10 month old baby who still sometimes gets up at night, so it's been over a year since I've had a total night's worth of sleep. My husband's snoring is really unbelievable, I mean, the sound makes the mattress vibrate, oh gosh, I'm so tired and so sleepy and don't know what to do anymore, any tips?

Sleep in another room. Buy him some breatheright nasal strips. Like the nfl pro's use. It opens the nose. Other than that, there's not much else you can do.

There's a special product that you can buy in the supermarket or in the pharmacy that will make your husband stop snoring.

since the nose is what makes the snoring sound loud, make him wear a nose clip at night so he can breath from his mouth, that should atleast make the snoring less loud

try the breathe right strips that should at least slow him down so momma can get some sleep the strips can be found over the counter and come with vapor rub for those stuffy noses. we are true believers in that product. good luck and happy holiday

Tell your husband to get checked for sleep apnea. If I were you I would hit the couch for a night or two...

You could try sleeping in separate beds. A lot of couples try that. If you want to have relations, then do the deed then one gets up and goes to the other bed.

Elbow him in the ribs and tell him to roll over. Actually, this is a serious concern and should not be taken lightly. Check with your doctor (could be serious medical problem) or hospital - some hospitals have special programs for bad snoring. I'm not joking or teasing you. My late uncle snored so loud that he kept waking up my grandmother on the 2nd floor.

Short of separate bedrooms, I would suggest some breathe-rite strips. Buy at any pharmacy.

I agree with dreams61 - have him checked for sleep apnea. They can give him a mask that virtually stops the snoring - though you have to get used to the sound of the machine. Still, it is WAY better than to deal with the snoring!! When my boyfriend forgets his, I end up sleeping on the sofa. It isn't the best sleep, but it is better than trying to sleep next to a non-moving freight train!!!! LOL

I think you and me need to start a support Group for wifes with snoring husabnd ( aarrrrrrrrrrgh ) !! :o)
We have the same problem and just last week my husband went to the doctors I told him if he doesn,t go the garage is his ;). Anyways he was told to buy an over the counter inhaler ( any parmacy will have it ) it does help qiet a bit .However the biggest problem the doctor told him with snoring people is a lot of times weight ( I don,t know if that could apply with your husband) and he was told to start loosing weight.I would ask your husband to visit the doctor as well. Good luck and sweet dreams for you I hope soon !!!

Ok I think I can help you out with this one. Snoring is a symptom of disordered breathing and should be looked into. Many people who snore also have sleep apnea. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that they stop breathing. There is more involved in diagnosing sleep apnea than just the apnea itself. There is also what is called Hypopneas which is a decrease of usually 30 to 50 percent of the normal airflow followed by an arousal in brain activity or oxygen desaturation. This is where some people get confused when they are instructed to have a sleep study done when their spouse does not entirely stop breathing. There is much more to it. The only proven effective treatment for sleep apnea is CPAP or BIPAP units which push filtered and humidified room air through a mask at a pressure specifically set to clear obstructive breathing. Leaving sleep apnea untreated can cause heart failure, stroke, high blood pressure and can be potentially fatal. The best part for you is CPAP will stop the snoring so you can get some rest yourself. The machines are actually very quiet and is much more soothing than someones rampid snoring. Have your husband evaluated for sleep apnea and get an overnight sleep study performed, if not for anything... for his future health. Good Luck and best wishes.

get your own room. that's what my mom had to do. my dad snores like hell and has sleep apnea and my mom could never sleep. growing up i remember being able to hear my dad snoring through their closed door with my door closed as well. do you have a guest room or spare bedroom in the house? i recommend sleeping there. you're sleep is important especially as the mother of a baby.

I read somewhere that he should wear those nose strips that athletes wear to open their nasal cavaties.

If that doesn't work, kick him to the couch

My husband can also shake up the house with his snoring.

I just started to go to bed one hour before he did, and now the kids and I get a good night's sleep.

Good luck! This is the only major thing that he lied to me about before we got married....and I did ask if he snored. :-)

My husbands snored so bad I had to go to another room to sleep. Has he been evaluated for sleep apnea etc? He could have a serious sleeping disorder that needs to be treated.
Good luck

well, my dad had really bad snoring problems and he went to the dr. and it turns out that he has sleep apnea. so i would get that checked out ASAP because your husband could stop breathing in the middle of the night for a minute or so...i know your sleepy so...either sleep on the couch or have your husband sleep on the couch for a night every now and then. i know thats no fun..but mommy needs her beauty rest!

Make an appointment for your husand with a sleep disorder specialist. I had a husband who 'snored terribly' ... he had a stroke with 'unknown origin' and I was JOKING about his snoring with his doctor. My husband saw a sleep disorder specialist and was tested for sleep apnea. He has sleep apnea, and now has a CPAP device to help him 'breathe normally' at night ... and he's BETTER than he ever was BEFORE HIS STROKE. Your husband may be 'ill' and your 'not sleeping' could be just the 'thing' he needs to be able to get better ... and you will notice that he's more active and 'lively' during the day when he's not snoring every night.

Get him tested for sleep apnea. Sounds like he's got it. They've got breathing machines they can strap on those guys and believe me you will get some rest for once. I've got an ex who had it. Thought he was dying the first time I heard him snore. x.x

真実 - Shinjitsu
Snoring usually happens when the person is lying on his (her) back... So, when he snores, move him on his side. Usually that makes him stop snoring...

However, have him checked on sleep apnea too. Snoring CAN even be dangerous to the person itself...

Read about it in the sources mentioned down here! Good luck!
