Robin	Why don't we just have a total ban on LIVING!!!! As for smoking, it's been banned in public places which I adhere to and agree with. It's people like you I do not agree with and am fed up to the back teeth with comments like yours. How about a TOTAL ban on non-smoker's with views like yours to be allowed out? idont_giveafuk	I can't stand smoking either chief. But look at the economics of it: Do you know how much money would be lost in taxes if everyone quit smoking today? There is a lot of money that the government uses for programs that would have to shut down because of the lack of funding. So the people in power that say let's ban smoking either don't realize (which I doubt) or won't publicly acknowledge that the more cigarettes that are sold, the more money they can use for various programs. susieblake2002	I understand why you feel like this and I agree, it's not pleasant to have to sit next to someone in a pub or restaurant if they are smoking. However (and I say this as a non-smoker) people should still be allowed to make their own choices in life, and that includes whether or not they want to smoke. The same applies to drink - whether you think its worth doing or not, it's a personal choice in a free society. I support the smoking ban, but I think that's as far as it should go. Have you any idea how much the government makes from the sale of tobacco? How would that money be made up? It would take considerable time before we saw any change on how it affects the NHS - smoking related illnesses do not just stop the minute you stop smoking. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

baickle	You could not ban it totally, it would never work. You can not dictate to others how to live their life. Chose to visit establishments that do not allow smoking inside so you may avoid the secondhand smoke that can harm you. I am sorry about your mother. It must be very painful for you. AlienSunflower	That would be taking away the right of free will, which by the way still exists in our country in case u hadn't noticed, smoking is not allowed in public places anymore so there is no need to moan about passive smoking LIVE AND LET LIVE, and i see there is no mention of what alcoholism & drug abbuse cost the NHS, do you realise the government acctually pay extra benefits to alcoholics to feed their addiction & yet no one seems to moan about that. As for your remark about smokers causing the hold up with the NHS and im sorry if this sounds insensitive but how would you have felt if your mother was refused treatment because she was a smoker??? as i say im sorry if that comment upset you but it is something to think about. kipper	whilst i sympathise and i am trying to quit, i hate the nanny state we are forced to live in, they will want us all dressed the same next, and what about fat people? if we pay for our fags and they are legal we should be able to smoke anywhere. ♥ Joey ♥	I too lost my mom to a smoking disease copd and it is very sad I quit smoking 6 months ago and it was one of the hardest things i had to do i had to totally change alot of my every day routine but if you ban smoking you will also have to ban drinking alcohol and all fast food restaurants because people die from obesity and liver diseases. it s up tp the individual how they want to live. healthy and longer or not. hales	They will never be able to ban smoking fullstop................ The goverment wont want to lose all that money they get from it, And at the end of the day it is up to the Individual person if they wish to smoke and risk getting cancer. As for the money that it cost the NHS how about they ban drinking how many people go out get totally lashed up, end up crashing their car or having a punch up and need hospital treatment............... I dont know bout you but never heard of someone smoking 20 fags a day and going out crashing their car and killing some poor innocent person. They are never going to ban Smoking or Drinking so get over it. They only banned smoking in work places etc to keep small minded people quiet. Just because you dont like it, Not all non smokers are so narrow minded go to your local pub and see how many of them stand out side with the smokers......... Alot of them. Stacey	I smoke...I don't think you should be able to smoke inside a resteraunt...but at smoking areas outside...I don't think you should be allowed to smoke in a car with children...etc....but to ban it...that would create crime...a black market like prohibition...not a bright idea...use your brain. gerrifriend	I can totally understand your feelings on this matter. However, look at the consequences of banning alcohol in the states.
