I do programme for people with asthma, have people that don't use their inhalers any longer. Basically, they use not medication but the stuff helps body to get more oxygen. It contains vitamin B6, C and E, Selenium, Beta Carotene and others, can tell you more in my e-mail if you are interested.

When I had asthma as a child my mother would give me a few things that still work to this day. You should see a doctor though depending on how bad it is. However here are the home remedies we used.
1. Mints, I always kept a lot on me and was allowed to eat them at school cause it helped me. It seems to open the airways a little bit. I try to chew mint flavored gum when I run to keep that pasage open.
2. Vick's Vapor rub, it always helped when she put it on my chest and sat with me to feel better.
3. running a shower and sitting while intaking the steam. This was my least favorite one as it made me feel kinda clastraphobic. It does work after a while of sitting in there.
4. Inhalers work as well and there are some out there at stores that you don't need a prescribtion for.
If there is an instance where the child begins to have an asthma attack keep them calm cause panic makes it much worse.
Hope this helps! =)

A principal cause of asthma are pollutants in the air we breathe. There are two areas in the UK where childhood asthma is growing - one being near Birmingham and the other near the Pennines close to Rochdale.
Trade winds bring a cocktail of pollutants from the Merseyside, Warrington and Trafford Park indistrial complexes to where the winds climb over the Pennine Hills, thus forming a collection of these pollutants at the base of the hills.
But the type of asthma suffered is important to know - the point here is that you may have to move in order to avoid exposing a child to an environment that is exacerbating the asthma.
Only a doctor specialist in the field of asthma allergies may have the answers specific to the particular child you have in mind in order for you to make an informed choice.

Dust is a significant trigger for asthmatics so if you can't get rid of carpets, make sure they're clean and that the asthmatic child isn't around when you're doing the hoovering. Change sheets on beds a lot, maybe invest in mattress and pillow covers. Depending on the child, pets may or may not affect them.

It's thought nowadays that the central heating in modern homes doesn't help either as people tend to not open their windows so much and the air dries out.

Don't have plants in the child's bedroom as they give out carbon dioxide at night and can make them wheezy.

dust is a huge set-back for making asthma worse. so is musty air as it can clog the lungs. sauna treatment is 1 very good option. i wander if that works for eczema too, any pointers?

Check that you child does not have an alergy to household dust or any other respiritory allergies such as flower (ie pollen) dust mites, air fresheners etc. This can be done by elimination and re entry of the alergen to the child's atmosphere as well as your GP's allergy testing. Although not the cause of asthma it may be an extreme irritant. Hoover carpets, floors and mattresses regularly, get frsh air in the home when possible and use air filters in air con and heating units. Remove plants and flowers if pollen allergic. Diet wise check for other irritants and any vitamin deficiencies that may make asthma worse.
