They have a new medicine called Chantix that is supposed to be much more successful than Zyban. If you're wanting to go drug-free, try a few months of hypnosis sessions. I have several friends who successfully quit smoking through hypnosis, but you have to go many times to get the life-changing results you want. Unfortunately, there is no 'magic Bullet' to stop addiction. Good luck!

I don't know the name of it, but my sister-in-law quit 5 weeks ago, with the help of a medication prescribed by her doctor. She'd tried everything, and nothing else had worked for her. I'd talk to your doctor and see what he'd recommend.
And good luck to you - I know it's a tough habit to break, but you'll feel so much better when you quit.

I smoked for 13 years and have been smoke free for 5 years. The patch worked for me. It took several attempts for it to really work so don't give up if you slip and need to try again. First time, I quit for a year with the patch and then picked it up again for no reason really. The next time it only lasted a few months and the last time...well, that was the last time I hope! I feel so much better physically and mentally.

Chantix works by blocking the Nicotine receptors in the brain. It is a dual-pronged program, as there is free support online or by phone when you begin to slide a bit and need someone to talk to.
I took only five doses of Chantix before I was able to quit, but I stayed on it for 30 days until I got into the habit of NOT smoking. Most doctors recommend the full 3-month course of medication.
I quit in April, 2007 and still have cravings once in a while, but they aren't severe and pass quickly. It helped that I was able to identify the triggers that I associated with smoking, such as getting in the car, when having a cup of coffee, after a meal, or with a beer.

My husband seems to have quit smoking easily. He has used the medication Chantix you are seeing advertised just now. The drug comes with instructions about a stop date, an increasing the med period and then you continue for about 10 more weeks. Ask your doctor about this. He also chewed lots of Cinnamon gum!

Healing Oneself

Hi THere
Here are some ideas to heal the issue.
1. Inhale steamed vapors of the essential oils of Eucalyptus and pine; massage the essential oils of cedarwood, Eucalyptus, or Peppermint into the chest daily.
2. Ayuvedic physicians recommend boiling two to three cloves of raw, organic Garlic in water; when tender, crush them, add them to the water and drink.
3. Be screened for food allergies and sensitivities, and then avoid eating those foods to which you are allergic or sensitive.
4. Do not eat sugar, wheat, or Soy products, soft drinks, commercially processed foods, and all foods containing artificial ingredients. Avoid commercial milk and dairy products, coffee and caffeine products, red meat, salt, refined carbohydrates, corn, chocolate, and hydrogenated and trans fats.
5. Drink eight ounces of pure, filtered water every two hours. Enjoy freshly-made, organic vegetable juices throughout the day using combinations of carrot, Celery, spinach, wheatgrass, watercress, and one Clove of Garlic.
6. Eat organic, whole foods such as fresh, raw fruits and vegetables, soaked raw nuts and seeds, free-range, grass-fed meats, poultry, and wild-caught fish. Regularly have Garlic, cayenne pepper, chili peppers, mustard, and onions. Use coconut and extra virgin olive oil, or raw, organic butter.
7. Useful herbs include Coltsfoot tea and Thyme, Peppermint tea, Anise oil mixed with honey, Mullein, Comfrey, Fenugreek, licorice Root, rosehips, Rosemary, Slippery Elm, and White Horehound.
8. Helpful homeopathic remedies are Aspidosperma and Carbo vegetabilis.
9. Try hydrotherapy treatments by applying water, ice, steam, and hot and cold temperatures through full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, and sitz baths.
10. Buy a negative ion generator, a humidifier, and add air filtering house plants to your home and work. Keep your place well ventilated.
11. Useful nutrients include vitamin C, Vitamins B6, B12, Vitamin E, Chlorophyll, Coenzyme Q10 (CQ10), Folic Acid, Lecithin, and the amino acids L-Cysteine, L-Methionine, and L-Glutathione.
Best of health to you
