you should see a doctor if you are really concerned, but usually a SHARP pain, especially if you are young and otherwise healthy, is probably gas.

Hi. I'm 46 years old. I recently stopped smoking. Last October I had 2 strokes.
A woman WILL NOT HAVE THE SAME PAINS in her chest as a man will if she is having a heart attack.
You could be having an anxiety attack, but with this going on for a few weeks, I think YOU need to Set up an APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DOCTOR OR TO BE ON THE SAFER SIDE GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM.
THEY CAN DRAW BLOOD AND TELL IF YOU ARE HAVING A STROKE, HEART ATTACK WITH THAT! THAT IS WHAT MY DOCTOR TOLD ME JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO.
PLEASE, DON'T WAIT ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS. IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR LIFE!
MAY GOD WATCH OVER YOU!

Chest pain can be caused by many things. Some questions first: How long does it last? Does the pain radiate anywhere? Worse when breathing? You look pretty young so heres some suggestions. First, acid reflux can cause chest pain. Does it happen when your laying flat, if so take something like Pepcid for a week and see if it gets better. It could also be an inflammation of the lung lining or muscles between your ribs. For this you could take Motrin three times a day for a few days. If the pain last longer than 15 minutes, radiates any where, or causes you to be nauseated or sweaty, see a doctor....

There are many causes of chest pain. One is angina which results from inadequate oxygen supply to the heart muscle. Angina can be caused by coronary artery disease or spasm of the coronary arteries. Chest pain can also be due to a heart attack (coronary occlusion) and other important diseases. Do not try to ignore chest pain and "work (or play) though it." Chest pain is a warning to seek medical attention. For more information go to these links:

When you "rest"? Do you mean lie down?
If so, I'm going to guess you might have acid reflux.

It could be a thrown out rib. I have had those and there quite painful. It increases a lot when you take a deep breath in. In fact most of the time when I do throw my rib out I take one or two really really big breaths and it will slip back in.
Of course if your short of breath, diaphoretic, and light headed because of it. You need to go to an ER.
If it doesn't ease up I would call your Dr.

It could be many different things, some minor and some serious. You should get yourself to a hospital emergency room ASAP or to your doctor. The most deadly words involving you health are: maybe it will go away.

Go get it checked out. Chest pain is usually just indigestion, but can be a sign of something very serious about to happen soon.

well you should should see a doctor about this.. My brother had a chest pain once and he went to the doctor, they put gell on his chest and moved a probe around to look to see if he broke anything
They couldn't find anything so he came back the next day where they xrayed him
He had a leaky Valve... I know it sounds wierd, the solution is to brush your teeth better! isn't that crazy...
But I recomend you see a doctor just in case...
Hope this helps
Bye
PS My brother only got chest pains when he got excited or ran or played alot... or if he breathed too fast... aslo if you play and run or jump it could cause your diaphram (located nnear and around lungs and stomach) to work harder and it starts to hurt. when it works too hard, you have to stop and take a breather or a break to give you diaphram a rest
That is also called a side pain
Hope this helps
Bye

Could be pleurisy or pneumonia. Regardless of what it is, talk to a healthcare professional. It could also be a problem with your heart.

look I am no doctor but I do know that chest pains , especially on the left side could be symptoms of heart troubles. I am sure there is nothing to worry about but I would not even wait to see your doctor , I would go to the ER and have it checked out right away. It could just be angina ( heart burn ) so don't stress yourself but please go get checked ASAP.
When you go into the ER with chest pains they will not make you wait , they will get you in right away.
Good Luck

Yes, see your doctor! It could be a muscle pull though. If you won't go to the doctor, try some Advil or Motrin. Try laying on your right side too. Your left side is your weaker side. Good Luck!

Teddy, this could be simple heartburn or it might be something more severe. What have you been eating lately? Do you, or have you had a recent cold or bout of bronchitis? Honey, it is really hard to judge this here in this forum. If it has been going on for two weeks, I would say it is time to check in with your doc. Don't wait too long, baby, it may get worse. I hope ya feel better. Rock On!

My sister and I have had the same thing happening for years. When I first started getting them I was checked for everything ( i was only 19 ) and nothing turned up. I've had a few other episodes that were bad enough to go to the doctor or emergency just in case. The verdict is stress .... it can do strange things to your body .
The thing is you should still see a doctor , it could be just symptoms of stress that you can learn to deal with but there is so much going on in that part of your chest it could be anything. Even nothing more than a strained muscle.
Hope it works out ok but please go and get it checked : )

It could be a muscle strain or a pinched nerve in your back that is causing it.
