Can ppl that smoke cigarettes get high? and if so, can ppl get high from second-hand smoke?

Tre O	What occurs is, like most other people said on here, a buzz. Sometimes people confuse that with being high. It's kind of a head-rushy feeling, and sometimes for first time smokers it can feel like you're going to pass out. Not very pleasant, but once you get used to it it's good, and then it just goes away all together, and basically, you're stuck smoking cigs because you're addicted. kool dude	No people who smoke cigrettes dont get high but have a great relief from their urge to smoke cigerettes .. Its practical if you do the same thing over and over do u feel the same way u felt the first time... thats it No.... Then that is just your addiction and u cant get high its just a drug which u die for. The most harmful drug and most addictive.. Justin H	The Nicotine in cigarettes does have a slight intoxicating effect. That is part of the reason people keep smoking. However, this is nothing like what you get from smoking marijuana. And no, you will not get this same benefit from second-hand smoke. For the record, I don't believe you can actually get high from the second hand smoke of marijuana. Scorpius59	people can't get "high" off regular cigarettes. They have to smoke cigarettes containing marijuana, Cannabis, the "herb".And yes, second-hand smoke, especially in a room that is not well ventilated, could have effects on all within that room. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Cosmodot	It depends on what you mean by "high". The effects of Nicotine are too mild and short-acting to be able to build up from a second-hand source, even over time. This is true for pretty much any drug that is recreationally inhaled. You won't be able to take in enough of the diluted drug, Nicotine, to feel any threshold effects, other than concentrating and inhaling the smoke yourself. There's no such thing as a "contact high". It's merely placebo. The only drug where I've heard of second-hand intoxication is with LSD or other drugs that are active in very tiny amounts and slowly metabolized. I have heard of LSD being transferred by sweaty skin contact. Being released through sweat from one person and absorbed transdermally by the other. I don't know if this is a substantial claim though. And when you're "high" on something, it's not just a trick. Those who don't understand the nature of drugs might attribute the effects as being some type of "effect",. but when you're the one under the influence, the effects are very real indeed. With some, they can be real enough to make you question sobriety, and with just cause. Those who can't obtain something positive from drug use, aren't using them or aren't using them right... Using drugs is in our nature. Why else would we have receptors in the brain built for nothing else, but the incorperation of drugs into lifestyle. When looking at life as being the effect of countless bio/chemical inter-reactions througout time, drug use is inevitable. With all this said, stay AWAY from Nicotine. It's actually very poisonous even compared to most illegal drugs. Nicotine is an effective pesiticide. I used to use a mixture of tobacco and water to kill bugs on my weed plants, simply because I knew Nicotine was a pesticide that wouldn't kill me instantly if smoked. It's much more dangerous than marijuana as far as dosage relative fatalities go as well as long-term effects to health. It destroys the cells in your lungs that kill cancer cells. Marijuana activates those cells. It's supported heavily by research that using both tobacco and marijuana together actually holds a lesser chance of developing cancer than smoking tobacco alone. Drugs that are often mixed with tobacco and weed: Primo, or premo is Cocaine smoked on top of a bowl of weed. Getting "wet" or using "water" is the same as using speed or meth. Often a cigarette is dipped in a liquid or crystals may be sprinkled on top of weed. This is also known as using "formaldahyde." PCP is also a psychedelic stimulant known to be mixed with weed and smoked in joints or packed on top of a pipe bowl of marijuana. It's known for causing hallucinations, often paranoid in nature.
