What hurts more, a tattoo or giving blood?

tracy	Never given blood (thinking about it though). Ive had a tattoo though and in my opinion they hurt and proberly hurt more than giving blood. On the up side though, i found that after a while, it goes a bit numb caused by the vibrations of the tattoo pen (or whatever they are called). The outline hurts more than the colour and it also depends on where you are having it. The one on my shoulder was not too bad but the one on the bottom of my spine really hurt. Sorry. John P	Your joking right? Giving blood is nothing compared to having a needle carve a picture into your skin! In my opinion: tattoos are not worth it. You may like it at first, but then if you end up not liking it, your sorta screwed! Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

Answer Fairy	I have three tattoos and have given blood countless times. The tattoo hurts more... it is a needle that is pistoning really fast then dragging across your skin, not just a straight prick for a second. Depending on how large the tattoo is, the longer and more it will hurt. Personally, I like the feeling of getting a tattoo. I think it feels good in a way. Sure, it hurts, but it's worht it. So, if you are comparing giving blood and tattoos... Well, I think the blood hurts more, because they are sticking a needle IN to your vein.... but the tattoo hurts longer. Remember, a tattoo is a permanent thing, and you have to live with it the rest of your life. When you are older, you may look at it, and say, "what was I thinking"... Tattoo removal is expensive and painful. Also, there is a risk of disease getting a tattoo. That is why you aren't allowed to give blood after a tattoo by many blood banks, for a period of time. Be sure your tattoo parlor uses an autoclave to sterilize the instruments. Why not a piercing, you can always change your mind and let it grow back, unlike a tatttoo......... worrywore123	Not a good idea to get a tatto cause when you're sixty or so like me, you'll look really stupid trying to be an appropiate grandma. It's definitely something you'll regret. I know I did. The prick of those needles is like being stung by a bee about 1,000,000 times, but not at the same time or anything. That's the worst part though. Imagine closing your eyes and feeling terrible pain. You want to get out, but you know that you know that it's not over yet because another one is coming. The second time hurts even more and so on. Then, when you finally get up, the body part in which got tattoed will hurt so bad it'll be numb. You can't even look at it and think your cool for a while because it's swollen. The worst part is, it doesn't really change you. It's like having an operation done. You forget about it. It's like a fad that has no ups at any time, not even while your getting it. fyouimatwirp	Dude... are you serious? Giving blood- one or two small holes, in the vein... doesnt hurt at all... makes you drowsy.. Getting a Tat- thousands of holes, in the skin... hurts alot more... and you have to put ointment on it for the following few days... and it is sore for a few days also... mummy	i hav a BIG fear of needles and allergic 2 vaseline had my first tat dun 2 wks ago on my back. was worth every minute. the pain was like sharp object going along ur skin but cos of the bleeding they stop every couple of mins 2 wipe. i thought it was annoying than hurtin. go for it and good luck let us know what happens? gemmafriend	Personally as a person who has a fear of needles and recently had to have a blood test I would say don't go through with it - I know i'm biased but come on why put yourself through all that pain! Why not get a piercing instead- much quicker and if you decide in the future your board of it you can take it out! When your older you may regret that tatoo- god I sound like my mum now - ha ha- seriously though - is it really worth it? EMILY S	giving blood i found harder, because the needle is bigger going in your arm, tattoo where as stings at first and is like lots of little pricks over the area, but then it appers 2 feel like pins and needles if u can stick them get a tattoo i love mine :) Was this answer helpful to you? squiggly ice cream	Ive got 3 tattoos hunny,i would say chose where you want it done first,if its on a "bony part of the body ie foot/wrist" then i would say it will hurt more than on your arm or leg as its more fleshy,the needle stings like the numbing needle you have at the dentist?i too have given blood and would say its your choice,but make sure you go to a proper tattooist and try and watch 1 being donr first or maybe ask someone who has had 1 done to their face.good luck. Bren	the tattoo will hurt more, my son has had 2 done and he is scared of needles, he managed to overcome it tho. best things to take some painkillers an hour before you have it done and have a sugary drink with you in case you feel funny, thats what they advised my son. it will be sore afterwards for a while too, but one of those things until u try it u wont know. start off with a small one to see how it goes. go for it. mako	I don't have a tattoo. I imagine tattooing is more painfull as they puncture you on an area needed for the tattoo, whereas, you need only one puncture into your vein to get a pint of blood. After all now they give you a local before they poke the needle into your vein; virtually no pain at all for giving blood. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

greg g	UM, YES A TAT HURTS MUCH MORE THAN GIVING BLOOD, IT STINGS AT FIRST... THEN IT GETS REALLY HOT AND EVENTUALLY WILL GO NUMB BUT NOT FOR A WHILE. Karen	Hey, i got a tattoo on my foot, and to be honest i didnt think it was that bad!! Once you get started its fine, its kinda like a scraping pain, its really hard to describe. handsonhips101	tat - try scraching your self till your raw, the burning sensation is what a tat feels like, actually its not so bad after a while as your body kicks in and you become numb to the pain. anywhere with less dense tissue (i.e near the bone) will hurt much more. blood letting doesnt hurt, aches but doesnt hurt, i tend to find my joint aches after a needle in my vein.
