Well definitely get that tattoo. I love tattoos and when someone dies close to me (I hope not anytime soon!), I will get another tat. I say just take time out to yourself. Go on a little vacation or talk to someone close to you. Listen to music it always helps for me. Best of luck to you and sorry for your loss.

some people are more sensitive to pain than others, and most responsible tattoo artists will not give you a tattoo if you drank as alcohol thins out the blood.
Just try to relax, think of something you enjoy, or thoughts of your brother and the good times you had. having a friend with you to talk to you and take your mind off it helps too.

Dont listin to that guy who said drink alcohol...if they know you drank alcohol before you came in to get it they WONT tattoo you, if you dont tell them and they do tattoo you the ink wont be a vibrant in color. Tattoos dont hurt that much or even if at all...it all depends on your tolerance for pain, just relax and tell yourself its in rememberence of your brother! GOODLUCK

The tattoo artist may have a Topical Anesthetic that will help numb the area. However you shouldn’t use anything. This is a right of passage, and you should endure the pain. It will make your tribute to your brother have more meaning in the long run.

It all depends on where you get the tattoo at. I would no recomond drinking before you get the tattoo, because you bleed more and if you drink the ink would bleed with the blood and you tattoo will look faded. Best thing to do is take deep breaths and do it!

Don't do alcohol. It can make the ink run I've heard plus makes you bleed more cause it thins the blood. Better check on that.
Second, think about brother during the process.
Also, placement determines pain level.
On top of a bone is a sensitive spot. The tat guy or girl can help you with placement.

I think some of it depends upon where on your body that you get the tatt. I have three small ones and the one that hurt the most I really didn't think would as it was the last one I got done. It is on my ankle and was quite painful while the other two were not that bad. Just don't go too big straight off as obviously the bigger the tatt the longer it takes.
Oh and very sorry about your brother. Perhaps just think of him and why you are getting the tatt if it hurts and then you will get through it.

Aspirin or Tylenol will help, but getting a tattoo doesn't hurt unless you put it on a delicate part of the body i.e. soles of feet, or on thin skin over a bone with little fat or muscle to cushion it.

Don't isolate into drinking or drugs...feel the pain and share about it even though it sucks...that's the courageous thing to do...and it will benefit you most in the long run...

No there is nothing you can do. Drinking liquor is no good, just bring along a friend who can hold your hand or keep your mind off of the pain. Besides I have a tattoo, it doesn't hurt that bad. It will be over before you know it

drunk + tattoo parlor = (shaking head)
For my money, either take the pain as part of the price or choose another way to honour him.
You can ask a tattoo artist what they do to numb the skin, but I imagine most chemicals would only interfere with the work.

No. Drinking only thins your blood causing you to bleed more and piss of the artist.
Your endorphins will kick in and you'll be okay. Getting a tattoo isn't meant to be easy.

It's supposed to hurt. That's how you make the moment.
The pain helps you remember the reason you got the tattoo.
Quit being a wimp - it's for your brother!!

Don't drink prior to a tattoo. It thins your blood and makes it hard for the ink to stay put. It doesnt hurt per say...more like sandpaper on a sunburn...

getting a tattoo doesn't hurt all that much...you could put some numbing gel on it...Don't drink cuz drinking makes your blood thinner...then you tend to bleed alot more.

Ha ha good examples of how to get it not to hurt. But I would just go through it with not doing anything. You would want to feel pain for your brother!!! Good Luck!!!
