It stings when they pierce it, and for a little while after that. Just make sure you take care of it and keep it clean. After a while, you won't even know it is there.

No, its not that painful, If you have the bottom of your ears done than it hurts a little more than that, because the bottome is soft the top is bone. You willl be fine.

well it felt like a temporary sting but it all depends on how you take pain. you can also get a headache sumtimes from gettin yo ear cartilage pierced.

yes! its not unbearable and it depends on your pain threshold but me and all my friends who got it done thought it was more painful than the lobes but less painful than some other piercings. but don't let it put you off coz the pain goes away reasonably quickly!

Yes. Like CRAZY! My daughter had her cartilage pierced and she said it was much, much more painful than just piercing her earlobe.
Also, the cartilage can shatter (I don't know how that works, but it happens) and you can end up with "cauliflower ear." It's a small risk, but because of it you should be careful to have a skilled professional do any cartilage piercing.
Be extra, extra careful to follow all the post-piercing care instructions, because an infection can also cause bigger problems than just having an earlobe pierced.

yep. the act of piercing does not, however it takes FOREVER to heal. It's the only piercing I had to remove due to pain.

depends on where on your cartilage you get it, and how high your pain tolerance is... the thicker the area and the bigger the gauge the more it will hurt

The actual piercing is about the same pain as normal ear piercings. What hurts worse is the healing. The cartilage takes much longer to heal, about three months, than a regular ear piercing. It is more of a burning sensation than pain when it is pierced. Take care to keep all new piercings clean, I like Bactine because it does not have the burn of alcohol or peroxide. Happy piercing!

Not so much the actual piercing that hurts, more so the after care. You won't be able to sleep on the side for about a week. I have two in my left ear up top. They are quite stylish so I say go for it. Pain is beauty after all.

Mine never hurt...it was sore after it was done for a while until it healed, but I can leave mine out for months at a time and it doesn't close and isn't sore. I think it depends on you, and how your body heals. But mine is perfect...don't have to wear and earring all the time and doesn't hurt to put one in after so long or while wearing one. I have 8 piercings in my ears, 3 on one side and 5 on the other (3 bottom, 1 at the very top and 1 in the middle) Plus I have my nose pierced too, that hurt way worse than the top of my ear.

I have my cartilege pierced and my advice is to just make sure you have it done with a needle and not a gun. Piercingsa done with a gun make the cartilege burst, which hurts more! The pain is minimal, but healing time varies for everyone. Good luck!

It totally HURTS. Yes it hurts. Don't listen to anyone else that say it doesn't hurt. Because it does! I have asked 25 people and they say it hurt. I have not done it but I am taking their advise.

Everyone's pain tolerance is difference. When I got mine done it wasn't all that painful but it was REALLY sore afterwards while it healed up. So you decide and go from there...good luck either way!!!

Yeah, it is, but I mean, it's bearable. The best way to get it done is from a real piercing shop--not one of those stands in the mall. There it will be less painful and less likely to get infected.
