GOD made woman to give birth and yes the threshold is higher than a man in THAT AREA of her body. If you slapped her in the face it would hurt MORE than if you slapped a man. And, may I ask, do you smack women? Please, Please, Please if you do..........DON'T.

i think women do just handle it better as they , as you say, are prepared for childbirth- i have a high pain threshold i've been told by people including midwives- i don't think it's that i don't feel it the same way- trust me it was bloody awful, just that i think there;s no point whining about it, as it doesn't help. As for some finding labour harder than others- there are different levels of pain in childbirth-eg a 'back' labour is a hell of a lot more painful than normal as you have the babies hard skull pressing against your spine rather than a nice squishy nose and cheeks

Pain is an emotional response to a stimuli. Women are more emotional. However, traditional western males can be cry babies.

i guess. i am not sure if there really is any truth to it but for example my bf and i both have tattoos, he says his hurt where as mine didnt really bother me.
also i gte the most awful cramps every time im on, yet i just grin and bare it, also a migraine sufferer.
you learn to live with pain... i think thats the bottom line. women suffer more consistent pain so we grow accustomed to dealing with it i guess

By and large i have found that i can tolerate pain more than male friends, family, but i don't think i would tolerate being hit in the face, nor a man for that matter.

it just seems like women can take more pain because men are such wimps...if they had to go through childbirth there wouldnt be half as many kids born thats for sure.

No its an untrue myth that women have a higher pain threshold than men, pain is subjective to each individuals response to it. According to many pain specialists many conditions which cause spinal or limb nerve damage or specific diseases like MS are much more painful than childbirth. Before any women cry out that it is untrue and slate me for saying this please look into it.
Childbirth transcends pain alone, although I presume quite painful, because it will end and when it does hopefully there will be a beautiful baby. But for people who suffer chronic, constant pain there seems to be no end in sight and it makes no difference if you're male or female.

apparently research suggests women can tolerate internal pain for a duration much better, and men can tolerate external violent pain better. simplified answer but it's enough to maybe give you a start for some proper research.
i think it also varies between individuals. i have a high pain threshold for everything and i'm a woman and my boyfriend doesnt handle pain well at all.

I've not heard any scientific evidence to this effect but it wouldn't surprise me. Having said that, some women find childbirth much worse than others so really pain is relevant. One could argue that men have a higher threshold of pain in case they got injured hunting.

The truth is, everyone is different. Some women will scream the house down during a normal non-complicated labour, others will breeze through it like they were born to do it. Some women will be floored by period cramps, others just get on with it. Some men can take a bullet and continue with their platoon others will fall and holler and pass out. Everyone has a different pain threshold, these can change throughout someone's life. Different types of pain will also affect individuals in different ways, toothache can be intollerable to someone who broke their leg in six places and never twitched. It depends on how happy and positive a person is, what time of the month it is for a woman, where the pain is, what type of pain it is and whether it is a chronic pain or localised or periodic pain.

Smack is smack, no matter women or a man is still bloody painful.. very strange conception. From an ancient times biting women was a very bad thing by the way. Till now "I don't fight girls/women" is a common thing

It's not a good way to test your theory. In fact women have twice as many pain receptors as men. The childbirth thing is a myth and why epidurals were invented..

It may not be less or more (thershold) but they feel the pain and express it and resolve it differently. A man would feel more pain from a smack in the face since it sort of shows him as a weakling.

Women are bigger wimps than men when it comes to pain, research suggests, contrary to the popular notion that the reverse is true. I can feel my ears burning now with that statement , but according to science it is true

The people that are most intolerable to physical pain are professional football players, one slight knock and they are rolling around in absolute agony and the only treatment for a quick recovery is to award the opposing player a yellow/red card and/or get their own team a free kick/penalty and they're up and running again.
