I have been beyond those over the counter pain killers for some time now.
What one should do is find out what the problem is, go from there. There is not one pill fits all. Some people do good on this and not on that.
Out of all the narcotics I have prescriptions for I choose Cannabis as the best one. None of those nasty side effects, at least for me.
Talk to the pharmacist and ask his/her recommendations if your pain does not warrant going to the doctor.

You can try Arnica pills or patches from the health or natural foods store. Arinca is great for sore muscles, bruises, and sprains.

It depends on what you have wrong with you. Anti inflammatory are best for anything with inflammation eg. toothache etc. They attack the inflammation and provide pain relief too.
Paracetamol is not an anti inflammatory but does a good job helping with pain relief.
All over the counter pain reliefs are roughly the same, some include caffeine, I'm not sure why.

Try to avoid "Aspirin"containing tablets like Excedrin.Always read the labels for dosage and safety. Usually Tylenol (Acetaminophen) or Advil( Ibuprofen) is a good choice, and useful in many situations. Take care. SW RNP

Whatever my problem, i always take 2 Paracetamol and 1 Ibuprofen together. Works a treat. I also used to buy the branded names, until i actually looked on the back of an own brand packet, EXACTLY the same ingredients for a fraction of the price.

In my opinion none of these 'compressed chemicals' will do your body any good as they can harm both the liver and kidneys.
Try Xango juice it is a natural, powerfull pain killer which has been researched and documented.

I would suggest, no pain relievers. Pain is your body's way of telling you there is something wrong inside. Pain relievers are a way of relieving the pain for a time, but not the problem. If you are experiencing head aches, side aches, stuff like that, it could be as simple as attributing that to lack of sleep, not having the proper nutrition, level of stress, etc. But just try not to use pain relievers, if you can. They are very harmful to your body's system.

I think it depends on what you want to treat...Asprin or aceteminaphin (Tylenol) is good for general aches and pains.

If your looking for it in the supermarket, there really aren't any great pain killers, but depending on the type of pain, you might try Tylenol PM, but they make you sleepy, but I believe Aleve work really well, if you don't have a prescription from the Dr.

For a good broad Spectrum pain Reliever Advil is the best over the counter. Any doctor will tell that as it is also an anti-inflammitory. Some of the others claim that but apparently Advil is the best.

Paracetamol for headache, Ibuprofen for muscular/ joint pain, Aspirin as anti-inflammatory.
Some people find Ibuprofen causes indigestion, Aspirin shouldn't be taken for long as it can cause other problems. read the labels. "Own brand" or generic ones are just as good as "named" varieties.

Advil is the best. I used to use Aspirin and excedrin, but I finally switched to Advil and it makes all my pain go away and it stays away.

Hi ya
Paracetamol is a good painkiller for mild to moderate pain, neurofen (Ibuprofen) is an anti-inflamatory type drug which works on a different place than Paracetamol, so if you combine the two it is actually a very good combination for moderate pain, so just use the prescribed doses for both you do not need to cut down cause you are using 2 drugs. Caution though if you have a dodgy tummy, Ibuprofen is like poisen, it can cause and aggrevate ulcers in your tummy, so stay well away if you have that. Aspirin is a fairly good painkiller, but even worse on the tummy than neurofen, so it is mostly used as a blood thinning drug for cardiac patients, in minute doses. So I recon it is always good to have Paracetamol in the house, and if your tum is ok, the combo of neurofen and parac. is great. Hope this sovels your problem. Bye the way they sometimes add caffeiene to the painkillers, it enhances it action and helps with lethargy and tiredness asc. with colds and flu.
