Washing up liquid and a scouring pad (not one of the metal ones, lol.) Medium sand paper springs to mind, but I've never tried it myself. A nail file kind of works but it's easy to miss bits. One of my friends takes her fingers off of her cigarette whenever she takes a drag, that works for her but personally I'd just forget to do it.

Toothpaste. My ex was a heavy smoker, and he used toothpaste with a nail brush - or when he could not find that his toothbrush! -and scrubbed. They looked like non smokers fingers!

to quit smoking would be the sensible answer - I use lemon juice with a flannel or green scrubber cloth, apply lots of lemon juice and scrub for about 5 mins do this a couple of days later

Make a paste of hand soap and baking soda and scrub, scrub, scrub. It may take a few applications, but this should work. You can even mix baking soda with toothpaste for your teeth, also.

Predictable answer: stop first.
Then give it time, the stains will slowly disappear by themselves.

I guess the best answer would be stop smoking but how will that help your already stained nails, right.
Well the absolute best would be to get a full manicure,
but for the cheaper solution soak your nails in a soulution containing
*fingernail polish remover
*soap
*alittle bleach
after this scrub both your hands and nails really good with soap and warm water.
