Find something that takes you to your "happy" place.
For me personally, I play guitar. I can be in a primal rage and it totally relaxes me.

Dancing. I either go dancing with friends or I dance to my favourite tunes in my room with the doors closed! I include dancing for at least 10 minutes non-stop at least 3 times a week. Also, I find sex a great way of unwinding from everyday stress!

One of the ways of relaxing is to listen to appeasing music, someting like "Sea waves", "Rain in a forest", etc...There are some disks where many sounds of Nature are available.
Also, it's good to ski, skate and visit friends, thus to relax.

My top ways for reducing stress are:
#1. Taking a long walk in solitude with my dog;
#2. Sitting in solitude in front of my fish aquarium;
And #3 last but not least, pretend I'm not home, turn off the ringers on the phones, and curl up in my room with a good book!
All 3 things I do are proven to reduce elevated blood pressure resulting in low stress to no stress.

Walking puts me in a meditative state and provides cure from stress.
I used to run hamster like on a treadmil for years - now the idea seems ridiculous to me. Walking generates best ideas, relaxes me and is kind on my knees. I walk to work, to shop, library and beach. Walking is the best drug and free of charge!
The other is art journalling - I use scraps of any materials available (receipts, silk, cheapest $1 store paint, tissue, thread, cardboard, ad pieces, junk mail etc) glue it to the page and write on top anything and everything - my blessings, lists of top ten, joys, sorrows. I sometimes burn paper or tear to shreds and use it for my creation. The process of creating something out of nothing takes my focus away from worry. I can spend hours doing it, not carying about the result. The result often surprises me by its raw beaty.

Lots of sports - extreme or just super intense workouts - running, difficult terrain mountain biking, climbing, double black diamond skiing... anything that would take my mind off problems but at the same time exhaust my bad energy which is piling up during the day. The key for me is: I have to be outside so I can have a large space which makes my problem seem smaller and more manageable.

Yoga & meditation...
The focus of these types of practices is to just BE -- accept what is. That's a simple concept but it is much more difficult to actually do, so practicing is a must.
Over time this will help you to become more content and to appreciate each moment. It's hard to worry when you're doing that :)

Besides just not getting stressed , in retirement at age 68, I am busy 112 hrs a week enjoying doing my art work and contributing to the community. See www.donhefner.ca for images of wire critters and other subjects. Such efforts have made possible over $100,000 to charitable causes in eleven years and a priceless "philanthropy award" on the National Philanthropy Day, Nov. 15, 2007.
I survived a fist sized brain tumor in 2002 and was told I may never walk again. However, I have already run 30 k in the first
five days of 2008, after just 3 months walking and jogging. I hope to enter road races (walk /jog). Such gruelling efforts allow for time to think, test courage, endurance and build fitness.
These aspects of my "second childhood" are only examples of what so many have said so well on this issue here. I give congratulations to all and wish the best of 2008!

Worry doesn't solve a darned thing. I used to worry all the time. Then my son got sick. That really changed my perspective around, totally and completely.
Nothing else matters when you stand to lose the things you really love.
It was like something turned off inside me that day, or perhaps something turned on, because all the every day things I used to stress about are totally irrelevant.
Life unfolds one day at a time, and that's what you should focus on and be grateful for and appreciate.
You don't know what's in store for you, so what good does it do to worry about tomorrow when you don't really even know if there is going to be one?
Somehow time passes the same but the quality of it is totally better and much more appreciated and valued.
My son, fortunately is ok and hopefully will always remain that way, but it taught us all to value the only thing we can be sure of which is today, and the love we have for one another.
Make the best with what you have. Live modestly, and within your means and stop thinking the grass is always greener, because you've been given your plot to work with.
That's really all I have to say on the subject!
:~)

There are two ways I have found to reduce stress and relax in my life.
First, I stop eating by 4pm everyday. I don't under eat. I just found (years ago) that if I stopped eating by this time I felt so good all night and have a deep sleep.
In the morning I look forward to eating.
The second way is all the time spent with my girlfriend.
We have as much fun as we can everyday.
The bottom line for me is:
Don't eat to much and enjoy life and love.

Play music and sing and dance to it, that helps me keep trim and makes me feel happy. It gives my mind a chance to remove all negative thoughts and have a clear head. Music is one of the best stress relievers.

First I don't sweat the small stuff, if you do not worry about what you can't change you will not get stress. Second, I take 1 thing at a time. and if all else fails I lock myself in a room and pray.

Stress can be very motivational...That only works if a person takes action to address the key stresses. In my opinion, of course: case in point: There are different pressures on my person, some of which you may not fully appreciate. To keep my life running smoothly, I take enjoyment in cleaning house, telling people around me what is going on at the moment, taking advice openly, and most of all, working towards a future goal. There are always consequences, they should be good.

I relax by examining/unfolding the reason why I may be stressed. I try my best to relax for my sake and understand that things aren’t as difficult as we make them out to be at times.
Like Confucius said, "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated."
I totally agree with that. Life is bigger than our problems, even if they seem big.

I use a device called EPFX. Which is a biofeedback device to help reduce the stress in my life. This has helped me to sleep better, have improved brain function, feel more calm, and generally feel less stress. Now I can feel the stress bubble up, then it just goes away. If interested in finding a practitioner visit: http://www.thequantumgallery.com/ or contact me and I might be able to put you in contact with someone in your area. Good health and peace to you all!!

A relaxed mind can't live in a tense body.
Try having downtime, spirital or meditation. A time-out for stress relief is great. Step out of the stressful situation for a moment and breath in as deep as you can - then suck an extra quick breath. Hold it for a few seconds then exhale in slow pulses following the rhythm of your heartbeat. Various versions of this "abdominal breathing" exist - Search Yahoo for methods. I find this one works instantaneously for me.
Also be healthy, good restful sleep and drink lots of water. Plan and schedule. Cross-off to-dos as completed.
Don't sweat the petty stuff and never pet the sweaty stuff.
