Smelly Private Area Sweat? Serious Ones Only?
If you are here for some enjoyment, find yourself another question. I am very serious and looking for serious responses, so need for nagging.

My problem is:

I'm a very clean person, I shower daily, sometimes more... Every day before i leave for work I make sure to shower, and clean my private area with soap.

However, after a long day at work.. and when i do walk in the sun from building to building, I feel that I sweat down there, and it smells.

I can smell it clearly, without having to move. It embarrasses me because I care about my hygiene and I wonder if other people smell what I smell…
This always happens to me when I spend time (even if it were 5 minutes) outdoor, though I know it wash that area very well while showering every morning.
I don’t have any other hygiene problems, and I am wondering why this started appearing in the last few months.
Additional Details
By the way, I got advice that said powder the area before leaving... but it didn't help. Still keep getting smelly sweat.

its normal. the sweat glands down below and under your arms produce a smell.. if you are preteen-teen you may just be noticing it because you are just starting to develop that scent. otherwise... sometimes hormonal changes can cause that to happen.

just keep cleaning.. i like to keep washcloths near by and just clean down there a couple extra times during the day. i also shave all of my pubic hair.. i've found that helps drastically. i'd avoid powder and avoid deodorant sprays, wipes, lotions etc because that will only make the smell worse.

now.. one thing to consider.. although it IS normal.. if you've had any sexual contact with anyone... some STD's do cause an odor. if you think this is possible, i'd recommend seeing a doctor or going to planned parenthood or the health dept for testing.

otherwise.. don't worry. a slight odor is normal in the nether regions

Sorry to hear you are having trouble....I understand u r serious. Although I don't have that problem myself, I understand how it can be embarrassing.

Below are 2 answers I cut and paste from some digging and searching I did on the internet. I hope this helps you.

NUMBER 1

Genital Odors
Like your armpits, your genital area contains apocrine sweat glands. They produce sweat when you're overheated, nervous, excited, or scared. While some odor in this area is normal, any fishy or strong odors should be checked out by your health professional.

Here's how to ward off everyday odors:
Wash your genital area daily with a mild soap. Deodorant soaps are too harsh for this delicate area.
Wear cotton underwear. Synthetic fabrics like nylon and polyester trap air and moisture, which can contribute to odors.
Beware of pantyhose. They can increase sweating in the genital area.
Don't use vaginal deodorants or feminine hygiene sprays. These products can irritate the sensitive skin in the genital area.
Skip douching. Despite what those commercials say, douching is not necessary. In fact, it's not a good idea. According to some experts, douching can increase the risk of yeast infections and can upset the balance of good and bad bacteria in the vagina.

NUMBER 2
a womans vagina is a "self cleaning oven" soap never should actually go inside of it, again it washed out essential germ fighters.
do you take a bathe?
if you do then take a shower
when you take a bathe you are sitting in dirty water and where do you think the dirty water goes?
yes, inside your vagina where you don't need it to be.
yogurt is very important for women to eat, it has agents in it that replace, or boost our essential germ fighters for our vagina.
so eat atleast 2 yogurts a week.
don't use powdres or perfumes down there.
powder can actually cause infections.
you should try to wear cotton panties as much as possible instead of silk, it allows that area to "breathe " better
if i were you , i would get an over the counter yeast infection treatment, if that doesn't work then you need to go back to your md and demand answers.
if you have a constant discharge and your md said he could find no std's, then it's not an std.
and if he's not giving you proper care b/c of insurance reasons then you need to find your nearest free clinic.

According to the WebMD symptom checker, you could either have a yeast infection or cervicitis (inflammation of the cervix). I think it's more likely a yeast infection though.

first off,i havent smelled any sweat that smells good.maybe you should try shaving the pubes.this may sound awful ,but i found that it has helped.i had the same problem.in fact i think lots of people do,but are afraid to ask for solutions to the problem.also try to wear underwear that your "area"will have room to "air out" or "breath". i dont recommemd the powder ,as it will only ball up and cause you to feel even more yucky . maybe when you do get to go to the restroom, grab a few paper towels and add some soap and water and wash the area.then with some plain wet ones and "rinse"off.it takes a lil bit of time and effort but it will help keep from smelling so bad to where it bothers you.i think its good that you atr trying to fix this instead of just keeping hush and continuing with this.good luck and i hope i have been of some help!

Try anti-bacterial soap.
Wear skirts with no underwear to stay dry. If you don't tell anyone then noone will think you are a sl*t.
Some say diet affects sweat smell. So stay away from fats and heavy foods. Eat more fruits, grains, and vegetables.

And by the way, we humans are animals. Our sweat and bodies are supposed to have an odor.

if it is coming from inside...I have found that duching with white vinager and water helps this, if it is around your private areas if you wash the area with baking soda and water it helps the elimnate smells down there...it nuetralizes the bacteria that causes the oder they also make a Dr. Bronners Peppermint soap which is very clean smelling and helps the sweating. Drinking lots of clean water helps too. you might want to think about taking acidophilis it coats the stomach and the entire intestinal track including the vagina which helps the smell quite a bit also...the natural baby wipes are good to keep in your purse for long days, all of these things have helped me in the past it sounds like your hormones are in play here which changes as we get older, I never had the problem until around my 30's not at 52 I dont have it anylonger but my hormones are totally different now...I know it can be very embarrasing...but trying these things did help me and I hope it helps you too

I second the person's answer about water. Drink LOTS of water (I typically drink at least 3 - 20 oz bottles each day and then a glass or two when i get home). It keeps everything cleaned up.

Try that and if that doesn't help, or you are already drinking lots of water, I would talk to your doctor. It may be some kind of infection. You may even talk to your doctor right now anyway. I would think one of the two (water or antibiotics for an infection) would remedy the problem.

Good luck!

I would talk to your doctor. Seriously, some people sweat more. There might be certain sprays. I am sure a doctor or pharmacist could recommend something.

See a doctor. It could be something very silly or even serious. I know that is embarrassing to even tell a doctor but you may have too. Remember everyone is more self concision of them selves more than anyone else. You may smell it but that may not mean everyone else can. Good Luck!

They have products that are supposed to help with problems like those. Look up one called RepHresh. Some girls just have an unbalanced pH level which can result in odor as well as infections and other things. Luckily, it's an over the counter product and it can help maintain the problem that you are having.

Look it up or check out other vaginal gels.

Good luck...

go to the doctor. you need t find out what is causing the smell, not cover it up. you could have an infection, douching and washing with Antibacterial soaps could actually cause you more harm.

You shouldn't clean your private area with soap, because if you don't wash all the soap away your body will go into fighting mode and treat it like a foreign body. When this happens your body produces its own cleansing fluids and this can be the smell.

Some of the other advice is right though, wear cotton undies as they do breathe better than synthetic material. If symptoms still persist you MAY have a yeast infection in which case a cream you can buy over the counter from the chemist may help.
If all else fails consult you gyno. Don't be embarrassed to talk to your Dr. Go and see a female one if you have a male and feel uncomfortable. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

A male with the same problem -- bathe often, soap down and
scrub big time, rinse well. Use powder and carry spray
deodorant or cologne. Find the "sweat" to have more of an
oily texture than normal sweat. Looser clothing seems to help.
Imagine FDS may help in your circumstance

hmmm....

Sometimes it has to do with ethnicity (not being racist)
and it may not be helped.

All you can do is start experimenting with different products such as creams and douches for this sort of thing. If nothing else helps, perhaps see your doctor?? Your GYNO would definately know more about it then we would.

Carry baby wipes with you and go see a doctor. Also, wearing cotton panties helps. Don't wear thongs until this problem goes away. Or go sans panties. Feels weird, but it might help.

It might also hep to sleep without panties and just let your skin breath.

Change your soap to something like portico or Loccitane.

It could also be your diet. Don't eat shellfish, fast food, fried foods and things with chemicals that you don't know what it is in them. Eating fresh fruits help.

I suggest go see a doctor, though.

Some women just have stronger "odors" than others. Have you had a full physical with your OB to make sure that you don't have a "hidden" infection?

Also, do you drink a lot of water? Water cleanses out your entire system, and it could make your 'environment' down there more thin and watery, etc., and perhaps that could also assist with the odor.

I hope you find an answer, I'm sure that is very embarrassing for you. Good luck!

All women have a unique odor, some just more pungent than others. There are sprays for this you can buy in the female section of the store.

Your natural PH can react with the soap. Have you tried other types ie: liquid versus bar, another brand etc?

The recent change can be anything such as stress, change in diet, new laundry soap, new partner etc. Look at what is new in your environment. If all else fails go see a doctor.

They do make FDS spray for that particular problem. Also, they have feminine hygiene wipes (FDS and Vagisil make them) that you can use a couple of times during the day when you go to the restroom. Keep a pack in your purse. I use them and don't have any issues. You can get them at drugstores or the grocery.

If you are comfortable doing so, get a Brazilian bikini wax for the summer months. That will remove a lot of the pubic hair, so it should reduce any odor problems. Douching is not supposed to be good for you, so I wouldn't recommend that.
