Actually a temperate bath is recommended. Liquids are VERY important, she should drink water or Gatorade. If she can stomach it, Aspirin, if not, Tylenol or generic equivalent. That's a pretty high fever though. Take her to a walk-in clinic. Alot of them take credit cards.

Honestly, an adult should never have a fever that high. Children are far more resilient to fevers than adults. Is she having chills with the fever...if so this may lead to seizures....she really needs to be seen right away.

Cool bath YES!
She can take Tyelnol, and in half an hour give her Advil, too.
This high of a fever can "cook" her internal organs so you have to get her into the tub with cold water, add ice too.
She really should go to the Hospital/Emergency Room. I t could be a massive infection, pneumonia, could be anything but she's going to need medical attention very soon.
If your cousin isn't over within 2 hours like he promised, you are going to have to call for an ambulance or take her to the hospital yourself. She could die. She should have gone to the hospital LAST NIGHT!!

Take her to the hospital.....
An adult can't handle that core temp.
You didn't say, so I'm not sure if this temp was taken under the arm or in the mouth? If it's in the mouth then the temp of 104 is correct, but if it was under the arm, then her actual temp is 105. You really need to get her seen.
don't give a bath either.... getting her undressed and put in water will only make her body react and want to heat up since she will have no insulation. (clothing)
If you can't take her, or she won't go, get a few rags and wet them with water. Make sure she stays hydrated with clear fluids like water ext.... and put the rags on the back of her neck, and on her forehead......
good luck. I really hope she gets help! Sounds kind of bad.

Tylenol. But you should really send her to the emergency room or at least Urgent care. You don't know what's causing the fever.

Cool bathing, 2x500mg Paracetamol tablets and unless she is allergic she can also take Ibuprofen tablet as well. These will all help to reduce her fever. She obviously has some form of infection (bacterial or viral) that is causing her temperature to stay raised. I would suggest calling her family doctor for a home visit or taking her to the A+E at your local hospital. Also give her plenty of cool clear fluids to drink, don't worry about food, just as much fluid as you can get her to take.

First step is to find the weight in kilograms. so take the weight and divide by 2.2 ex.. 220 pounds = 100 kilos.
then its 10 mg of Motrin per kilogram for the first dose. Three hours later give 15 mg of Tylenol per kilogram. routate this schedual and pack your roomie to the ER. The will need to run some tests and check for flu, pneumonia.. strep.. etc. The nightmares and cheeks are red due to the fever. Good luck.

That is too long to for the fever to be so high. Can't you get her to a nearby doctor/clinic/emergency room? If there's nothing you can do, give her 2 Tylenol, and bathe her in cool water, or sponge her off with alcohol to help bring the temp down. She is probably dehydrated and will need intravenous fluids. This is a very high fever, please get her help asap.

If she has fever and no other symptoms for less than 24 hours, then start by giving her 2 Tylenol. In 3-4 hours, give her 2 Ibuprofen (Advil). Alternate those two meds every 3-4 hours as needed. Give her plenty of water to drink.

Take her to the emergency room - dangerous things can happen with a fever that high. If you can't, a cool bath will help, have her eat ice cubes, make her drink a cool drink. Make sure she stays hydrated. If a fever is 104 or over it's very dangerous.

Tell him/her to drink fluids (within moderation) so as not to become dehydrated, that's the main thing. If he/she is dangerously hot, a cold shower would do but the body gets hot for a reason, apparently it helps to fight the infection.
Read the wikipedia page, it seems to have good info.

Cool baths are not good, they could cause hypothermia. Room temperature will be the best. With a fever at a hundred and four for two days, and nightmares sounds like she's poisoned or something. Does her stomach hurt? Her appendix may have burst. She needs to go to the hospital now.

I can't believe some of the dangerous and ill informed stuff I've read here.
Why do you want to lower her fever? Lowering the fever is purely for comfort value, it does not cure or fight an infection. Fever is a natural immune system response to fighting an infection. Cool baths, removing clothes, fanning etc are to be avoided. They cool the body peripherally and the body starts to shiver but the core temperature remains the same.
People panic too much about fevers. If it's constant it's OK. Any RAPID raising of temperature, especially in children, may cause problems and an anti-pyrexial should be given.
