I think this is exactly the kind of question that religion was created to answer - though I think there are many flaws in organized religion, I think having a strong faith can be very helpful.
I personally subscribe to a faith based upon personal power and faith in the Universal energy that created us all - and the certainty that it is not all just a waste of time and energy. With that in mind, I try to use Yoga, visualization and affirmations, as well as the best oracle I have found to date - Ralph Blum's Runes. You can learn more about them at Amazon.com or Insight-books:
http://www.insight-books.com/RNSM/0312108192.html
I also get some support from on-line Angel Cards:
http://www.consciousone.com/c1Cards/cardsView.cfm?cardGroupID=1
When all is said and done, it is the personal relationships with your friends & family, your god and yourself that get you through the tough times. It can be very hard, but you can take heart in knowing that the time of travail will end - one can not live permanently amid obstructions - and the new is always greater than the old. So whatever it is that you are going through, take heart and know that it will all work out for the best in the end. I mean really know it - that will help the trouble end sooner.
PS - I nearly forgot one other tool I use to get me through - Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life. http://www.hayhouse.com/details.php?id=267

One thing that always helpes me when things get me down, is to talk to someone that I'm close with, you know, VENT!! And also, getting out of the room sort of thing; take a walk or go and see a funny movie!!
Take care, and hope this helped!

Listen to music that I love...
Think about the positives in my life...
Ask myself why I am down, and do I have to be?(psst..answer should be no)
Stop feeling sorry for myself.
Please do not ever resort to drugs. I was depressed for years and did drugs and it only made my life worse.
Get outside more. A little sun is good for your well-being. Go for a walk, talk to your friends. If you don't have any, that's okay, you can always make some.
Do things to get your mind off being sad..like not concentrating on it..Keep your mind(and body) active with positive things.

I usually listen to my favorite songs. Or, I play my piano. Is there anything you really enjoy doing? Mines playing my piano, it always takes my mind off of everything.

I spend time with my dog, there is no way I can feel sad around him. If you don't have a dog, do something really nice for yourself, the works: a bubble bath, face mask, etc. I hate to offer this suggestion, but shopping helps- but only temporarily.
Whatever it is you choose to do to feel better, please remember that things are always in a state of change and will not stay this way forever!!
And don't do stupid stuff like get drunk! It will amplify your sadness and you'll have a hangover in the morning on top of everything else.
Hope you work through it :)

Listen to music, play with my dogs, drink some tea, go for a walk. Exercising releases chemicals in your brain that naturally lift your spirits. A nice, long walk might cheer you up. Better yet, if you have a dog, take it on a nice long walk while listening to music. ;-)

I'm always sad...
but I like to listen to either crazy dance happy music or depressing music because like daniel powter's "bad day" song says:
"You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around"
or i just go to sleep.
i know this sounds stupid but sleeping makes me feel better because its like when you're asleep you're numb. You don't think or feel and you can escape from the world for a while.
Hope you get happy soon!

for some reason, these make me feel better....
people write their deepest secret on a postcard and send it here anonymously:

and people send random things they find on the street here:

I don't know why, but they make me feel better.

Shoot hoops or skip rocks. Clears the head. Or listen to good music, and by that I mean music that is so likeable it's like...exactly right, or it seems that way. Therefore "Panic! at the Disco" would not fit that criteria...
