This is a non-prescription nasal gel that works extremely well every time.
Zicam: contains Zinc which helps prevent both initial and further infection due to flu. It really really works... no really.

Rest is important. Take lots of vitamin C. Airborne is good if you are just getting a cold. Hot soup is good too because it hydrates you and is a form of nutrition. Try not to do too much if your body is over worked it will take you longer to get better.

lots of rest - time is the big healer with the flu - your body needs time to fight the infection. drink lots of warm liquids - if you can keep anything down - chicken soup is good. If you throw up alot, you may need to buy some elecrolyte solution to re-Hydrate your body.

sleep , gravol if its the stomach flu , chicked noodle soup, and plenty of fluids , some cold medicine like buckly's wont hurt either it makes you feel alot better and finally , my old mi'kmaq teacher gave me a recipe that his grandmother made him , nad when i had it , it made me feel 100 times better , what your going to need is. "dark" sussex Ginger ale if you can get a hold of that depending on where you live , you are going to want to buy a Ginger ale that has ABSOLUTLY no apartame , you;ll find out why . then you need lemons and ginger Root ( powder) what you do is pour the Ginger ale in a pot along with the lemons and ginger Root , then after boiling in you drink it as hot as your mouth can take it , it makes you feel alot better , but remember no apartame in the Ginger ale because when aspartame is heated over a certain temperature and can become a poison .
oh! and to add to the flu shot comment , it will do nothing once you have it i beleive , the flu shot is nothing but a bit of the virus itself , and it strengthens your immune system so you are not as prone to the virus

I just had a huge one for about 5 days. I used only natural ways to heal though and when I went to the doctor to check if something is wrong with my lungs after 3 days, she said that I have a "mini flu". But it was huge because I had no syptoms and then suddenly a fever of 102 degrees. Natural remedies really help.
First, drink lots and lots of honey with tea. Make sure that you don't put honey into tea when the tea is hot because it kills the enzymes of the honey. Drink a glass of lemon juice (freshly squeezed or you can just eat a lemon raw which is better). Lemon is good for practically anything and kills bacteria and germs. Eat plenty plenty of Garlic (raw Garlic... as in don't put it in the toaster or oven). Never use the microwave- it kills of all the nutrients of food. Also, drink and eat plenty of vitamin C, and get a lot of rest and don't overstress yourself. Also, clean your large intestine through a douche. All the viruses are found there and that is the best, safest, and quickest way of doing getting over the flu. It is the most efficient.
If you want to use medicine, I can't help you because we don't use any. But natural resources really work and I am fine now (I was sick last week). It took me only about 5 days to heal. It reallly works and is way more healthier and better for your body.
Hope this helps and you get well soon:)

Let it ride its course, taking medication gives it more things to feed off of and doesnt actually reduce the lenght of it. Drink lots of water, drink Ginger tea or lemon grass tea if you have an upset stomach, drink Chamomile tea for a sore throat, or for a sore throat and upset stomach i found that (it may sound gross) hot dr pepper with lemon helps alot. Just eat as much food as you can drink tons of fluids, relax, sleep a lot

Once you have it you need to rest, drink plenty of fluids and eat bland foods, clear fluids. If your fever persists for more then 24 hours with out a brake and/or goes above 102 call your doctor, you do not want to dehydrate.

You can't any quick way, your body does the healing in it's own time but you can do some things to shorten this virus, such as the old remedies, plenty of rest, LOTS of fluids, clear......... avoid milk and dairy products, have lots of chicken soup for a few days, and Ibuprophen as needed.
hope you feel better soon!

It takes time to run its course.
Some flus are short and some are long.
Some have many symptons like bowel, stomach, headaches, sore throat, etc....
Getting a flu shot is the best thing...
It isn't too late to do it now for the new strain due to hit in Jan and Feb.
Plenty of rest, lots of water, and vitamin C.
Aspirn seems to be the best for fever.
If you work around a lot of people or go to public places be sure to wash your hands frequently or apply a sanitizer to your hands and remember to NEVER touch your mouth, rub your eyes or nose... This is where most people catch the flu.. Bathroom door handles are also bad.
Rest and sleep.....

Prevention, do not get it! Get the flu shot! Wash you hands with soap and water! The bottled hand sanitizers are suspected of morphing the quickly multiplying viruses and accompanying bacteria into a much more adaptive bug.
Flu must run its course. One must take time off, sip hot drinks, and change out of wet sleepwear and bedding as it becomes sweat soaked. Citrus is not the drink of choice. It is acidic and the bugs you are fighting rely on an acidic environment. Do not drink milk. Milk produces mucus. Mucus protects the bugs you wish to attack. Consume mass quantities of steaming broth. Chicken broth is the classic and by far the most effective for me. Hot Green Tea in steaming lemonade and a little cognac is permissible. I have treated my symptoms and speeded my recovery from rare bouts with hot showers, hot soaking baths, and steam when available.
Forget going to the doctor for the flu. He doesn't want you in his office in that condition. There is nothing he can do for the flu. He may treat you for anything else that comes about, like pneumonia, but then you will be in the hospital. Probably in isolation. The hospital has its own dangers. The incidence of MRSA* is an epidemic in hospitals. Stay out if you are able. Once you have flu, you have few choices but to rest and monitor your temp and other vitals if you have the tools**. You are allowed to be a cry baby and if those around you don't show any sympathy, their turn will come.
MRSA again.*** Very graphic.

Getting a flu shot before the flu season begins is always a good idea. Sure, the day or two after I get the shot I feel some of the symptoms, but I'd rather feel light-headed for a day than feel like human waste for a week. The beginning of October is a good time to ask your doctor about the availability of flu shots. People who should get the flu shot are people who work in public education, health, or transportation, where contact with a large number of people is unavoidable.
get a flu shot
Staying away from large crowds and populated areas during the flu season is a good idea. If you don't have the flu already, it's a good idea to keep a good distance between you and the people who might have it, making sure to practice good hygiene if you must go out in public. Don't touch your eyes, nose, or mouth until you have washed your hands. If you have the flu already, then save people the pain of experiencing the flu symptoms you are: call in sick. You deserve it. the flu is extremely contagious
Manage your stress to avoid the flu. One study after another confirms that the efficiency of your immune system is dependent on the way you manage your stress. If you're stressing out, you get fatigued, you get depressed, and for whatever reason your immune system gets depressed as well. Get some exercise. Go for a run. Don't worry you can't catch a cold from the cold. That's a myth. But bundle up; lowering your body temperature doesn't do wonders for your immune system either. stress can lead to a flu infection
Antiviral medications will help cure the flu. The CDC recommends that you begin taking antiviral flu medication no more than 2 days after coming down with the flu. The antiviral medication should be taken for 4-5 consecutive days, and if used properly should relieve your symptoms 1-2 days sooner than someone who does not take flu medication. A list of antiviral medications is found in the left sidebar. flu medication will help figth the flu
Drink a lot of fluids to fight the flu. Without fail, when you are sick, you must drink plenty of fluids. Fluids don't necessarily help fight the flu, they keep you hydrated in a situation where dehydration could become a serious complication. And don't drink just any fluids; drink fluids that have electrolytes like sodium, Potassium, or chloride. Gatorade and other sports drinks are the fluids most recommended by doctors, and those are basically Pedialyte with manly names. fluids help flu treatment

The Flu Shot and Tylenol
Because my father is a doctor, around October people start asking me about flu shots. Are they worth it? Yes, they're worth it. They contain dead virus proteins that your body will attack (that's the weird feeling you get the next day) and then build an immunity to. What about the virus nose Spray? Those are good too, except those use some virus material that is still alive (Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine – LAIV), but the virus is weak enough for your body to kill and then build an immunity against. Note that the LAIV flu spray is only recommended for people between the ages of 5 and 49. Spare yourself the pain of getting knocked on your *** for a week and get that shot. Don't be a f**king baby about it!
Whatever you do, don't take Aspirin when you have the flu. Giving your children Aspirin when they have the flu can cause something called Reye syndrome, an illness that causes pressure to build in the brain—eventually killing the sufferer. It's bad stuff. So, instead, give you or your children Tylenol to help manage flu symptoms like headaches, fevers and muscle pain. Tylenol is different because its main ingredient is Acetaminophen, a non-Aspirin pain relief drug.
