Ashley P	If you've used all the treatments and shampoos, the best thing to do it use olive oil. Completely cover the entire scalp (do two layers if you aren't sure!), let soak in for 2 days, wash out and do a run through with the comb. Hair is REALLY greasy for a bit, but it suffocates the living lice so they die off. I've found a site with a remedy concoction, but maybe just try the oil on it's own first. flyfishingw	try dog shampoo. it worked great on my sons head when he got them. just leave on for a few minutes and rinse completely. run the lice comb through for any left over eggs. pay close attention and don't get it in the eyes. can be used more than once but usually does'nt take much. any standard flea and tick variety will work. sweetpea	the shampoos work but at the same time you have to do the bedding, every hat, every brush, every hair band, every article of clothing, bed sheets stripped and spray the carpet. We had them with a niece I adopted and it never spread but it has to be done all at once to get rid of them or your cleaning them up and reinfesting just by combing your hair or laying on a couch pillow. OnlyPBforJB	Haven't had them since I was ten. I remember that you had to ask the pharmacist if there was a particularly effective remedy for the locality, in case resistance had developed. You had to get rid of the eggs, in my day this was combing vinegar through the hair, then removing them with a fine tooth comb. I've heard of electrical combs, but don't know much about them. I thought head lice couldn't survive for long away from the host, but I suppose things could change. Are you treating pillow-cases etc? Maybe they are being caught from an untreated person. applehoneyblossom	foxy is right. the chances of lice surviving in black-african-american hair is very slim due to the grease that they have in their hair, trust me i know. the grease keeps the lice from getting to your scalp and laying eggs because it can't stick. and also make sure that you use a tight-tooth comb. AND...wash everything in your house, clothes, bedding, shoes with the hottest water and bleach, and for you colored clothes use color-safe bleach. hope it helps and good luck. Dolly Blue	At the chemist and Argos they sell very fine combs that have a battery in them. You comb the hair through dry and any lice are trapped in the comb, they them get an electric shock from the comb, it kills them. THE SHOCK IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR HUMANS TO FEEL, IT IS SAFE AND DOES NOT HURT AT ALL. The good thing about this method is you can do it every day without any mess and it does work. not perfect	get some rubbing alchohol from the 99 cents store and massage it into your hair then get a lice comb when them come out squeeze the little suckers. make sure you kill them all and wash your pillows and bed sheets in hot water. then pass the vacumm and clean everything that you can. repeat this for a week to make sure you get rid of everyone. Chrissie M	The only way to ensure you are rid of headlice is to remove them completely. There are lots of products available that you can use, but this is not enough on its own. You will need to get yourself a good nit comb, it a very fine toothed comb that will remove or damage any headlice that are present. Using a hair conditioner will ensure the comb goes through the hair easily. Head lice reproduce rapidly, but they cannot reproduce if they are damaged, so combing everyday for 2 weeks with a nit comb will ensure they cannot reproduce. Emily Hobhouse	Use plenty of cheap conditioner. Leave it on for at least five minutes - ro infiltrate the little b gger's spiracles. Wet comb until all live headlice are no longer to be seen. foxy	As every living thing, lice needs air to live. Dreadfully soak your hair in petroleum jelly for about two days. Purchase a lice comb (a close tinned comb) and comb out very carefully, the lice and eggs. Then wash your hair with those special shampoos. Repeat in about a week just to be sure. Donna M	My son had head lice for ages because none of the stuff I bought from the chemist worked. The only sure-fire way was lots of conditioner on wet hair, comb through with a nit comb before rinsing off. Do this every other day for a week or so, and you'll get rid of them. Nanette B	If you have tried everything then all I can tell you is that you probably havent washed everthing you have worn and or your sheets or sprayed you furniture with the furniture spray that is provided by some manufactures. you have to pretty much sterilize your house from the damn lice because they leave eggs just like the freakn roaches do and they get everywhere especially your sheets and furniture .good luck Was this answer helpful to you? Zoe	I have used Durbac and it has been helpful, however you still have to use the comb through method.... Use plenty of conditioner and a good comb and comb through at least twice a week to make sure that you get rid of any eggs.... If you dont get rid of the eggs the nits just come back. I dont know if it is for you or a child, the best advice i can give if it is a girl tie the hair back and use lots of hairspray to prevent getting them. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No
