Tell him to see a cardiovascular/respiratory specialist. They most likely have a small problem with their airways, or their heartrate, and would be the source of the snoring.

I feel your pain:) boyfriend snores too. There is a spray called silence that works very well, just get him to drink a glass of water beforehand. Also allergy sprays such as fluxonase help. Only other suggestion - try to get to sleep before he does!!:)

Does the breathing stop in-between? If so, they could be suffering from sleep apnea, which can be treated by a doctor.

My husband has been helped with Breathe-Right nasal strips. He doesn't snore at all any more. Unless your partner's nose is really huge, like Barry Manilow, the small/med. ones will be the right size. I buy the clear ones just so I don't laugh at my husband. ;)
EDIT: I get them from drugstore.com.

You can get some sticky tabs which fit on each side of the nostrils to hold nostrils open during the night...they are supposed to work.....or do what I did, move to another bedroom.

my husband snores like a train...It doesnt bother me now, but for a while i was wearing ear plugs and they were uncomfortable...so i started taking a Tylenol PM before bed, and I would go to bed earlier than him if at all possible...If i can get to sleep before he starts to snore, and I'm really tired from the meds...then I am good to go...he also snores a lot less if he is on his stomache

SO CRAZY!!

tell him to cut right down on wheat and dairy and not to have ANY dairy after 5pm at night. Have a hot drink of plain water before bedtime, if his sinues are blocked try steam inhalation and try snoring remedies that you spray on the throat. If none of this works, send him into the spare room so that you both get some sleep
PS alchohol before bed wont help either

I would try better ear plugs! Boot's Wax plugs are the most effective.

Well how about YOU take some Ambien!!! Snorin is just one of those things that you may try to control all your life and fail. They sell mouthguards, drops, etc some times it works sometimes it doesn't. Overweight also causes this so losing some weight might improve his breathing. If not go to an ent, have him prescribe something to open the airways. Good luck!

My Husband was like that too! My neighbours used to hear him!! He would snore like a train, then stop breathing-he was sent for sleep studies, where they saud he had sleep apnoea. He is now on C-PAP at night, and snore free.
If he is a smoker, overweight or a drinker, this can cause sleep apnoea (I think they say over a size 17 collar!).
If all else fails, try a brandy or two for yourself before bed.

Snoring could be serious business. It could be a symptom of sleep apnea, which should be medically evaluated. I've always thought it was an evolutionary development that protected sleeping primates from nocturnal hunters (it does sound pretty scary!) Sometimes the best you can do is close the door and sleep in another room.

Well, I always push my husband to make him sleep on his side and he stops. If your husband still snores when he is on his side, you should maybe have him tested at a sleep center to be sure he doesn't have apnea or something. Good Luck!
