yes and it was a bad experience the lady went through my vein and hit my muscle( causing my arm to grek) and caused blood to pool under my skin and when I called the Red cross about my arm they told me to wrap a trash bag around my arm. I have not given blood since then I think they need to train there staff better

I donated blood once when I was 17. It was in high school. I missed the one they had when I was 18 because I was 95lbs and when I was 19, I couldn't do it because I was pregnant. Now, I want to go back and do it and I hope that I meet the requirements.

I unfortunately have not recently-- I have done a lot of traveling to third world countries (yearly) and am so barred from donating.
I gave before I became a nurse practitioner.

Yes. I worked 6 years on Cancer/ Leukaemia ward. You have no idea how much blood can give someone a better quality of life.
My Husband needed a blood transfusion when he had a serious accident. It was someone very special who gave him the blood he needed to live.
Give blood! It's a gift of love.

i've given blood twice, but now ive recently had my nose pierced, whats the deal on giving blood after a piercing? i know they ask have you had one recently, but im not sure of the time constraint before you can give again. was talking about this the other night, someone found out i'd given blood couple of times before and asked why. i was baffled by the question..., TO HELP PEOPLE!!

yes i have twice. Every 3 months the human body can replenish this blood but giving too often for too long can cause problems. nevertheless once a year is good for your health and your fellow citizens

Yes, I've donated in the past. Because my normal body temp is 99.9, they won't let me donate anymore, even w/a letter from my doctor stating that's as low as it goes, going back over 20 years. It's disappointing--I always felt really good after donating.

I used to, but can't any longer due to being on regular medication.
I would strongly urge people to do it though. It's a very valuable thing and you never know when you might need it yourself.
It doesn't hurt and it only takes about an hour every few weeks. It's easy.

I got upto 11 donations and I now don't get free time to do it as the times don't tally with my shifts and I will not pay over a pound to park in a car park just to give blood wgen it does tie in nicely!!

yes, i do regularly (i'm O-negative, and stocks are always required as they can give it to anybody; it's also used in fetal blood transfusions which is a cause very close to heart). Also my mum needed 5pts after she gave birth to me, so i wouldn't have had my mum if people hadn't been so generous in the early 80s. i'm now a mother of three and as soon as my daughter is 9months old i'll be donating again.
I'm also a bone marrow donor volunteer.
i believe you should help however you can. xxx

Yes, and if you are able to you should.
The screening process does check several physical and lifestyle risk factors and they will not accept your blood if you meet some of the risk factors.
I have donated before, I'm AB neg, so they like me when I donate.

yes, often.
there are strict guidelines to using new needles for every person, so there shouldn't be any worries about aids or other diseases. After every person, the needle and anything else with their bodily fluids on it goes into a Bio Hazard disposal bag.
