Yes, I support the smoking bans. I wear contacts and when I go to smoky nightclubs my eyes get irritated and once when I tried to get into a different club they wouldn't let me in because they assumed my irritated eyes meant I was on drugs.

No. It interferes with private property owners rights and guess what? No one is making you non smokers come to places where we can smoke!

No...I think that the only places that should be smoke free are offices, court houses, and government buildings. I don't think that non-smokers should be favored. It is a freedom to be able to smoke.

Absolutely and I am a smoker. It stuffs other peoples heads up
stinks horribly to them and really makes people with respiratory problems deathly ill. To top it off, other people that don't smoke should not have to leave somewhere stinking.

No, I do not think that smoking should be banned in all indoor areas. While I am not a smoker, I understand that some other people enjoy having a cigarette or cigar. I think that a smart business owner would cater to both crowds, and create an atmosphere that separates the smokers from the non. If this is not possible in certain buildings then the business owner should be the one to choose whether smoking is allowed or not. If they decide to allow it and nonsmokers don't like it, they should just go somewhere else, and vice versa. I especially think that this is true in places like bars and nightclubs. Many people like to smoke in these types of places, and if they restrict it to certain areas, I think everyone can get along just fine. I do think that smoking should definitely be banned in places like schools, stores, and office buildings, though. I'm mainly referring to restaurants, bars, and clubs.

You know.... I don't smoke, but I disapprove of the smoking ban in public places. If a bar wants to allow smoking, then they should be allowed to. If a restaurant wants to allow smoking, then they should be allowed to. If patrons don't want to be around smoking, then they shouldn't go. I think smoking's a nasty habit, but it's legal, and in a free country it should be up to all of us to decide to either smoke or not, or frequent an establishment that allows such or not, or work in such an establishment. It just makes sense to me....... maybe I'm crazy.

I am a smoker, but I think that all states should definitely ban indoor smoking. I smoke outside - that's all. Even if smoking is allowed inside somewhere, I won't smoke there. I think it's disgusting, it smells and second hand smoke is dangerous to others. I have tried unsuccessfully to quit many times - one of these days I will though.

YES, for the obvious reasons that the Surgeon General has espoused since the '60s. But a great compromise could be had by requiring exhaust in any building that allows smoking. Make them have powered exhaust fans to the outside from the smoking area.
But that is too simple for politicians to think of, and doesn't make controversy that they so dearly love...

I agree with smoking bans in restaurants, but not bars. We now have a smoking ban for restaurants and bars in Madison, and it has driven all of the bargoers to the surrounding cities that do not have a ban. Bartenders go into the field knowing full well that most people smoke when they drink. I really don't think food and smoking mix tho, yes we smoke after we eat, but even tho i smoke i dont want to smell it while i'm eating. Other public places i see no reason not to ban smoking, or atleast have a specified area where smoking is ok. Can you imagine working in a place that you can't go outside to smoke? The addicted people will go crazy ;) Anyway, no bans in bars, you can ban any other place you want. I guess clubs are a different matter, most people come for dancing. In appleton there is a night club that has the bar separate from the dance floor, i think it would be ok to ban on the dance floor especially you have people whipping around not caring where they go what happens if they get burnt by a cig?

Yes, they did it here in Washington and so far, it's working well. People were worried that bars/clubs would lose money, but they haven't...they've actually made more money because anti-smokers who wouldn't go there before will go there now.

No I do not, I smoked for 35 yrs, but have been quit for 9 yrs, but why keep picking on the smokers, they have very few places where they can go now. Quitting is not easy, it can be done, but some people truely enjoy smoking, I say if you don't want to smell their smoke go somewhere else , there is enough places for all of us, I feel sorry for the smokers. I quit because of health reasons. But it is none of my business what others do.

I do, I think everywhere, if your going to smoke take it outside. Smokers need to consider others. It will not hurt you to not smoke inside of a building. That's just nasty. Smoking is a bad habit, when you have bad habits, you leave them at home. Like when your at home you may scratch your-self and put your feet on the table. That's a really bad habit, you don't do this out in public around others, keep it at home. Keep your smoking at home or outside.

Yes....because I have the right to be healthy and should not be subjected to someone else's bad habit. I have a hard time breathing and my brother who has bad asthma can't even go out to certain places because of the smoke. If they want to smoke, go outside and do it.

No.
Smokers should be able to smoke as long as NO smoke particulate matter escapes into the air supply available to any other breathing thing, the smoker swallows all of his cig butts & ashes, the smoker never exhales and the smoker agrees never to kiss anybody (yeck!) .
Also the smoker must agree to supply his own health insurance & never use his employers insurance or any government funds to treat any of his illnesses.
The smoker must agree to take at least 3 showers everyday including shampooing his hair.
The smoker must wash his own clothes in his own washing machine daily or destroy the clothes as the may have collected noxious smoke particles.
So you see I am against any smoking ban as long as the smoker takes responsility for his/her actions.

I do, because one of my teachers died of lung cancer and had never smoked in her life, second hand smoke killed her. People should not be selfish and smoke indoors with innocent people breathing in fatal smoke, thats could contribute to an early death...its not fair to those who chose to be healthy.

In some places yes, in others no.
It's hypocritical to ban smoking and yet sell the darn things. If this is the case, then take them off the shelves. If they are legal, then what's the problem?!
and to add to that...
I've heard people say that it wouldn't affect business, but I know this is false. I know several businesses who have lost alot of business because of the smoking ban.

No, I disprove. There are smoking and non-smoking sections in restaurants, they should have a smoking area in other public places too. And if the indoor place is their home, they can smoke all they want!

Yes - all the way.
Because others shouldn't suffer from someone's bad habits. It's not okay for fat people to shove food down everyone's throat - it shouldn't be okay for smokers to subject non-smokers to breathe smoke.
