I used to have it on my ring finger. I used to write alot when I was in school but tis been years since I wrote much and it dissapeared already. I guess its just callus and it will go away once you stop hitting that same spot over and over.

I don't.
But it could be caused by how strong you hold your pencil or how hard you write.
The pressure could've done something.

Most people get a callous on their middle finger from writing during their school years. Mine is not as pronounced now that I have been out of school a number of years. In fact, until reading this I had completely forgotten about it as it is barely noticeble or different from the left hand finger.

Some of my friends have the bump where they hold their pencil. I personally have a dent in my finger from where it goes. Everything is fine.

me and a lot of people in school (and my family) has them too. It's just extra skin that has built up so it doesn't hurt when you write.

Oh yes, you don't need to worry! Most girls have such a thing on their middle finger - they write more than boys do :))

That 'bump' is called a callus, and you build up calluses where things create friction against your skin ... your pencil is causing the callus. If the callus is painful, go to an office supply store and buy a 'heavy foam tube' or 'plastic tube' you can put around your pencil or pen to provide some 'give' when you are writing. I had those too, when I was younger ...

I have it too, but on my ring finger, but mine is more severe because my right ring finger nail is slightly deformed.

the bump is a natural callas in the skin and is perfectly normal although if you use bunyon cream on it (as it is essentially a bunyon on your hand) this will soften and eventually reduce the bump although you will have to revse your writing style to prevent the bump re-occuring

It's a writer's "bump" a callous usually on the middle finger. However, I was weird & held my pen/pencil weird so I had one on my ring finger. Mine stayed for a really long time.
It comes from gripping your pencil too tightly. Loosen up.
They say it's going to become extinct as people use keyboards more.

haha. i have one on my third finger. it's just from the pencil rubbing against your skin. if you use mechanical pencils or pencil grips it helps.

It's called a callus--a patch of hard skin that develops to protect the body. Since you're rubbing a pencil against it all the time, it happens! I've got one too, haha.
