the computer screen helps to keep you awake longer than you should be. same with lights in general. try reading something, preferably something boring that might make you fall asleep.
also try going to bed around hte same time each night. and dont drink caffeine for at least 4 hours before you intend to sleep.
good luck. force yourself off the computer :)

develop a bedtime routine...bathe, get in loose, comfortable bed clothing...stretch, but don't do strenuous excercise right before bed. try not to eat heavily 2 hours before you want to sleep, a glass of milk is more than an old wives' tale, the Calcium actually helps you to relax. turn off the lights and tv, but you may want a night light, and quiet instrumental music, or 'white' noise, a fan or other device.
try to be consistent with lights...full on or sunny in daytime, darkened right before sleep.
sweet dreams!

Warm milk, turkey breast, lettuce - include this in your dinner. Drink a glass of warm milk before milk (warming up milk activates the Tryptophan in it, which then is used in the process to increase melitonin on our bodies) melitonin is the hormone in our bodies which aids in our bodies awareness of day/night, awake/sleep cycle. Its a good idea to increase it naturally rather than by pills!

i know this may sounds completly weired, but it worked for me and apparently everyone else who asked this question and i answered....i used to have this problem so i thought how to make myself tired, when in bed..seriously...make your self yawn, and keep doing it 3 or 4 times, and you will be ready to fall a sleep...belive me....my little brother used to not be able to go to sleep because he was scared of monsters, and i told him to yawn, ad he does and now he just falls asleep without yawning.....pills are stupid, dont ever take a pill for ANYTHING....4 years ago i never took pills for anyhting..and i mean Advil, and w/e, for head achs, anything...and i mean i NEVER get sick anymore...been two years without any sickness or any bad head achs

Once i figure that out for myself i will tell you.
Maybe if you MAKE yourself get up in the mornings at like 6:30 or 7:00 and keep that up for a while you will be more sleepy at night and fall asleep earlier. It will get you back on a regular sleep routine. . . .I should try that myself actually. . .

First of all, walk away from the computer! Take a hot shower. Relax while laying in bed and think of nothing but sleep. If it works, lemme know. ;-)

try drinking a hot glass of milk if you like it, but it always makes it faster if you put your t.v. on sleep mode to like 30 mins then fall asleep to that

Try counting. When I can't get to sleep, I count. I usually just count my breaths. It's slow, and I don't have to make any additional effort. Just count them silently in your mind. If I lose count, it's a a good sign you're conking out. Just start over again, or continue at the last number you remember.
