drink very warm milk....and don't eat anything at night its easier to get some sleep with an empty stomach....and make sure everything in your room is very dark. so that way you think your eyes are closed and will fall asleep...because your eyes will be open when you think your eyes are closed that way your eyes will get tired and when your eyes are tired you think that you are tired....so that usually helps with me because i make sure when i go to sleep my room is picth black..

Ask about prescription sleep medications, and the risks. See if you can take something OTC instead, and make sure it's something you won't become at risk for depending on to fall asleep. Your doctor will also probably ask you about your lifestyle, so be prepared for that; often times, people who can't sleep well have a lot of stress.

Don't take sleeping pills. Anyway drink some warm milk, don't eat to much before you goto sleep. Watch tv laying down.
If you watch moving pictures (Television) it always helps me fall asleep.
Anyway after you watch tv. Lay down in COMPLETE darkness and close your eyes.
I'm almost completely sure this will help you fall asleep faster.
Hope I helped. And good luck

*aparently bananas help you sleep too, as they trigger the release of seratonin, so down one before bed!

a warm bath and some warm milk right before you go to bed. make sure your neck is comfortable against your pillow, it could be too overextended. dim the lights to your desired level, or put them off completely. turn off the tv and other things which make noise. think about a calming place like a deserted beach or what..you should be off to lala land in no time :)

Place a cervical roll or rolled-up towel under your neck. Make sure that your head is in a neutral position (that you are neither looking up or down). If you find that you cannot be “in neutral” then you need a smaller roll.
Place a pillow under your knees-This takes stress off of your lower back. You could buy a special pillow for this, but a regular pillow works just fine.

Lay on your back with your head on your pillow and rock your head left and right just to the speed where you can do it semi-fast and it isn't painful. Do this while counting backward slowly from 100. Keep going, don't stop halfway. The feeling when you are finished will be really relaxing and heavy.

hey what you need to do is lay in bed very still. Think about something that is peaceful or about something good that happened today. Sit there and count to 60 then 60 backwards. And after that do your abc's and then try to do them backwards. It always works for me!!! Good luck with your sleeping problems and i hope everything works out for you.

My friend suffers from what your going through. And I decided to stay with him for one night and he slept. And well, I couldn't sleep next to him every night.
So, we left a the T.V on and fell a asleep, though it wasn't a deep sleep but it was sleep.
I believe your doctor might prescribe you Ambien and well, my mother took those and she went suicidal. So be sure that you don't take it too far with the pills if he gives you any.

I have this problem a lot too and I take an herbal sleep Aid called Sleep MD that you can get at any drug store. It works great, you fall asleep gradually instead of being knocked out and there are no weird feelings the next day. Of course, ask your doctor if it is OK for you to take.

Do you drink a lot of caffeine- whether it's in soda, tea or coffee? Do you take/drink anything that has Ginseng, caffeine, Guarana, etc. in it?
If I have something with caffeine (or some other added stimulant) in it after lunch you can bet that I'll be awake the whole night but feel tired at the same time and it's miserable. I usually don't fall asleep until somewhere around 4am.
Try cutting out the caffeine or other stuff. If that is not it then you may have a "busy mind." I'm not sure if the name but it's a condition where people have a hard time sleeping because their minds run a mile a minute and that makes it hard for them to relax.
Have you tried a bedtime routine? Like a warm shower or warm bath then maybe reading before bed? It could help.
If you are going to the doctor about this specific problem tomorrow just answer all his questions honestly. If you are worried about something or uncertain don't be afraid to ask whatever pops into your mind.
Good luck!

everyone has different biological "clocks" in them that make them naturally want to sleep and wake up at certain times, and that can determine when you are sleepy or not. I find the best way to fall asleep is to bury myself under some blankets and just close my eyes, or listen to my ipod depending on how tired i am. hope this helps

First- don't take sleeping pills, that is the last resort! You can become dependent on them and you shouldn't need to use drugs to fall asleep. Here are some suggestions:
(1) Try natural sleep aids, like Melatonin (available at drugstores). It is a natural hormone your own body produces and it will make you drowsy. (2) Do not use the computer or TV within 1 hour of bedtime because the bright light of the screen stimulates your brain, making it harder to fall asleep. (3) Exercise! Nothing will make you fall asleep faster than a 5 mile walk, or a 50 mile bike ride! (4) Keep your room dark (5) Try a sound machine that makes natural sounds like the sound of the ocean or rain.
