Too much pasta and red beans is what did it to me. Just say no to ultra-cheap pasta meals. Or rather, I lost like 40 pounds doing that...oh screw it, do what you want.

"usually" the case is that you eat too much meat, because meat has "a lot" of iron in it.

like i'm a vegatarian and i have to eat the "proper" foods that have iron in them, so that i get enough iron.

some good advice that i can give you, is to become vegatarian for a while and look up on google for foods and ingriedeints that have lots of iron in them and try to aviod them. but like i said, if you become a vegatarian for a bit that would "REALLY" help.

Maybe you eat to much meat, or your diet just contains alot of iron. If it's really bothering you, go see your doctor. The oppersite to too much iron is called anemia. Anemia is when you don't have enough red blood cells, due to iron defisioncy, causing you to feel tired alot of the time.

High levels of iron can be toxic to the liver and may also indicate disease. It is also possible to get misleading iron levels, depending on which test is used to measure them. Serum iron + TIBC or ferratin.

Could mean your diet is too high in foods which contain high concentrates of iron.

The link below will explain more about dietary iron.

It can be bad... Just depends on the amount

Check the iron levels of the foods you eat... Also if your taking vitamin supplements and things most of those contain iron or extra iron.

You need to take a look at the possibility that you suffer from haemochromatosis. I note your name, Kieran. If you are Irish or of Irish/Celtic descendance, this may be the case. Haemochromatosis is a blood condition that affects 1 in 80 Irish people and it is life threatening. Other Celtic people can have it also. The build up of too much iron in the blood can lead to heart disease, liver failure or diabetes and pancreas disease. The treatment is very simple, regular withdrawal of blood, like a blood donation. there are no pills or potions needed. If you do this you will be just fine. I urge you very seriously to read up about this condition on the internet then go to your doctor with the information and ask for tests to be done. There are very specific tests, not just a simple iron test. Do not be fobbed off on the subject, it is very serious. Non-treatment can lead to premature death. Contact one of the English speaking haemochromatosis societies on the internet, ( there is one in Ireland), and they will advise you on exactly the tests you need to have done. The reason I am being so insistant on this is because my younger brother has been diagnosed and I am waiting for tests results at present. We are Irish and from a large family. There will be three or four of our siblings who either have the condition or are carriers. If both parents carry the defective gene there can be more. If you find you have the condition then your whole family will need to be tested also.
Descendants will need to be informed too. I don't know if we are permitted to leave e-mail addresses on here or could come into contact some other way, but if it is possible, then leave your e-mail and I will contact you to try to help. good luck and please do follow this up.

Iron overload is a serious chronic condition that must be properly diagnosed and treated. Undiagnosed iron overload can lead to hemochromatosis – a potentially life-threatening disease. It's when your body absorbs more iron than it needs to. Think of it as a sink that keeps absorbing the grease everytime you do the dishes. Good luck.
