Dave D	You are right...this is gross...BUT it is natural as well. Humans can and do get intestinal worms and it is as simple as falling off a log to get them passed onto you. Tell your friend to go see a Chemist and get some worming tablets and that will fix her problems, even if she thinks she is not infected, better to eradicate them now. As for the guy, she better tell him and give him some of the pills too.....They won't go away by themselves. Also, when one person in the household is effected, the rest should take the medication too.
