I'm on day 4 of giving up. I feel fine physically. I'm a little jumpy and hyper for some reason and go through some really rough period of cravings for them again. I'm trying to keep busy to keep my mind off it.

Headache, sore throat, runny nose. I felt like death, but it passed after a couple of weeks. Ashamed to say that after 3 years as a non smoker I started again #;-{ I wish you every success and felling as grotty as you do now will soon pass. Don't give up giving up.

I never smoked and probably never will, but they make smoking patches now for quitters.
Also, I suggest chewing gum with low or no sugar, drinking plenty of water, and resting.
Also, you may want to get somewhat regualar check-ups with your doctor about this.
Yes, it is normal.
GOOD FOR YOU! (about quitting)
And GOOD LUCK!
seriously, good luck- You can do it!

in the begging you will feel crappy. i felt restless and agitated. once you get through the first ten days you should be fine. do things to keep your self busy. its really mind over matter.think of how many years you are adding to your life by not smoking every time you want a cigarette.

It will pass. If you're strong enough, you'll be extremely happy with yourself in about a year. Until then, you'll probably have urges to smoke at certain times and will feel a little bad for a short period. But don't give in and trust me, it's worth it.

Yes, you will feel bad. Your body has become dependant upon a drug that relaxes you, now it ;isn't getting it.
All I can say is, stick at it, because in another week you are going to feel SO much better

I was still craving them for about a month afterwards but after several lapses I began to remember that actually starting up again wasn't that great really and only then did I see that I could do without it.
Keep going, stick with it and good luck.

when i gave up i felt like killing someone for about a month, i would get so angry and annoyed by the slightest things.
It is worth it though, my father died of lung cancer 2 years ago and believe me it is a very slow and painful death so having a short period of being down and angry is worth a healthy life
Stick with it and best of luck to you

Your body is in shock, so you will feel bad at first. Be sure to drink plenty of water and eat right. Get a Multivitamin, it will help you perk up as well.
Congrats on quitting, I know it's hard, I quit 2 yrs ago, and it took a little time to feel better, but now, it's great!!!

You are going through withdrawal from Nicotine. Hang in there. It will go away. Everyone feels like crap when the quit, but it gets better once your body is clean.

My mother died last year from lung cancer from her smoking. Feeling like crap for a couple of weeks is a sign of withdrawl. Isn't it better than the feeling of dying an long, ugly death?

It's withdrawal. The best thing you can do right now is focus on the amount of time you've gone without a cigarette and be proud of yourself. Do it day by day. Once more time has gone by, it'll be a matter of pride that you don't backslide. The yucky feelings will pass and your skin will start to look better, clearer. That's because smoking causes your pores to open more to give your body oxygen. Once smoking is stopped, those pores get smaller and you look healthier, too. Imagine what's going on with the rest of your body! Keep going...you're doing fine!

Stick with it.
I feel like shyte at the moment.
Some how putting smoke in my lungs will not change that even though I feel like going f~*k it.
I haven't smoked for
One month, two weeks, six days, 16 hours, 59 minutes and 56 seconds. 760 cigarettes not smoked, saving £91.27. Life saved: 2 days, 15 hours, 20 minutes.
The program can be found here to do that
http://www.silkquit.org/sqmmiv/meter.aspx
Stick with it.

depends on how much u smoked? if u smoked out of habit its really hard to break cuz ur used to doing it. take up a hobby that u can do when u would usually be smoking such as knitting, i know it sounds realy strange but something that replaces the habit makes you want it less

It's withdrawal symptoms your experiencing babes. There's not much you can really do about other than if you begin having cravings for cigs then I suggest chewing gum and keeping your hands busy, that way the craving will pass in no time and it will get easier. Keep with it.x

I think that might be your body getting rid of the stuff in your lungs, plus the fact that your body will be craving cigarettes.Hopefully it will pass soon.

My first days of quitting smoking were really tough. Although I had a very good stimulus to quit. i'm actually allergic to nicotin and I causes my heart to behave irratically.
But that aside a good tip is to have something in your mouth that takes your mind off cigarettes (a lot of the actual addiction to smoking has to do with the daily habits of lighting and sticking it in your mouth) such as lollies or what really worked for me liquorice wood.
