sore throats cant really be 'cured' unless you have strep throat - then you can take an antibiotic to cure it. the only thing you can do it reduce the pain until it goes away on its own and the body takes care of it.
chloraseptic spray, sore throat lozenges, hot drinks such as tea or apple cider, and sometimes cold foods such as ice cream may help numb the throat and make it feel less sore. also think about keeping the throat warm by wearing a scarf for additional warmth.

Lemon with alot of salt on it. It is better than salt water because the acid combined with salt acts like a seltzer cleanses and flushes. Also you might try a shot of whiskey with it. Just to numb it, nothing medicinal.

Every time I get sick I take a ton of vitamin C or eat foods with lots of vitamin C. Vitamin C is an antioxidant so it literally helps to fight off and prevent colds and even cancer, helps prevent diabetes, gum disease, the list goes on. You should start taking a really good Multi-Vitamin. Trust me, you will notice that you don't get sick near as often if you have a really good vitamin intake. I take a multi-vitamin plus extra of certain vitamins like Vitamin C and Vitamin B12 (vital for energy). Eat some oranges or drink some orange juice and of course get some throat spray or lozenges. Read this article about the importance of vitamin C.... http://allergies.about.com/cs/VitaminC/a/blaaaai030703b.htm

All the above answers (except for Stascia's and Muralasa's) are a bunch of old wives tales. A sore throat will heal only as fast as your immune system can overcome the infection/bacteria/virus that is the cause. You can swish and gargle and mix as many concoctions as you like, but TIME is the only thing that will heal it.
What IS true, however, is that additional irritants may delay healing, since a sore throat is comparable to an open wound. Common sense says you should do as little to irritate the throat membrane as possible. This would include any type of lavage that is acidic (ie. lemon juice), overly hot (soup, hot tea), and obviously alcohol is a no-no. Salt water that mirrors the salinity of the body is harmless, and may help your throat feel better, but it won't heal any faster. It should be noted that drinking "potions" *may* make you feel better, and anything that can improve your mental and emotional state of mind will help reduce stress, which *may* in turn strengthen your immune system, hence speed recovery.
Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen or Naproxen, can help reduce swelling and pain. Zinc fortified lozenges like Cold Eze have been clinically shown to reduce the duration of some cold symptoms in some individuals, but the evidence is haphazard, and they only seem to work if taken immediately when symptoms are first felt.

Gargle with like warm water with salt at least three times a day. This treatment is very good for prevention of soar throat but is also useful in mild viral infection. In case there is bacterial infection i.e. situation gets worsened with fever, must see doctor.

Drink lots, eat enough, and rest plenty. Even seeing a doctor usually provides only symptom relief and will not help cure anything (unless you ask them to prescribe antibiotics, which you shouldn't, because they get overused, and the nasty buggers become immune to treatment, so the antibiotics are no longer as effective when it's something serious and you really do need them). The best way to get over most colds is to make sure your body has all of the liquid and nutrients that it needs to battle the invaders, and then sleep as much as you can. Your body repairs itself while you sleep, so sleeping will give your body the best chance of curing the cold.
