add some olive oil to your diet. eat a salad with extra olive oil or something like that. will help you instead of the laxatives. all oils will work, but the olive oil has other benefits to your health and tastes great.
good luck.

mineral oil is a natural way to keep things moving. a couple of tablespoons followed by some juice. it has no taste, it's just greasy and it works without all the cramps. my son had the same problem and this is what the doctor recommended. you should also have a glass of cold water every morning as prevention.

lots of beans, humus, broccoli and spinach salad
i had a blockage that was causesing great pain. ny doc said its kidney stones or my prostate so he tested for both and said it was fine and i had no stool in my rectum...duh! he said just eat more fiber. well i ent home and took a bottle of fiber pills and 4 laxatives. in seven hours i had to run to the toilet., and grab a trash can. for the next 2 hours my bowles moved violently and inbetween movements i puked.. I lost 15 lbs.........so, dont listen to the doc , insist on a barrium xray it could be something worse and a prostate exam is not acceptible.

eat some prunes, works like a charm (5 should do the job). The juice will also do, depends on your preferences. To be original you can rap some bacon over the prune and then cook the bacon in the oven, it makes a good apetizer. You can even add some cheese even better!

There are prune-lemonade available, they work!
And the good thing is you can drink it anywhere and if they ask what you're drinking, you can say "lemonade" (which sounds alot better then 'prune-juice').

Drink a lot of fluids!
Your constipated because the stool doesnt have enough moisture in it to push it through...
Drinking a lot of water will Loosen this problem up and you should be ok.
What I would do, is monitor how much you drink each day. Now, I would increase your intake each day, and see how much you have to drink, in order to alleviate this situation.
Remember, your supposed to drink at least 8 - 12 oz. glasses of water or liquids a day...so, I would start from there.
I wish you well..

My ex husband had .spinal injuries that made his bowels a problem. There are things u buy at the chemist, they come in packs, without a doctors script, u insert then in ur bum (its like a little tube, u put it up then squeeze the contents out)
After a short time u are talking to the holy one.

Fiber is the best natural treatment for constipation. Whole grain breads and cereals are a great source of fiber as well as fruits and veggies. In your situation you can also take Mineral Oil as well as drinking prune juice.

Eat a diet rich in natural Fiber. Drink lots of water. Those harsh chemical laxitives are way too strong for you.
A weekend of bad eating doesn't require such extreme measures.
My guess is that your diet hasn't been very good for quite a long time. A weekend of bad wouldn't back you up that baddly and make you need harsh laxitives.
Eat more fresh veggies, eat whole grain breads and pastas, drink orange juice with pulp, drink lots of water.
If this happens again, just wait it out, drink lots of fresh water.
If you use harsh laxitives too often your body could grow dependant on them and you'll be an addict!
And once you get things "moving" again, go visit your local GNC type store and get a seven day cleanse kit. It will clean out your guts of fecal material stuck in your guts, and detox your liver and guts.
And remember to eat HIGH FIBER FOODS! And drink LOTS OF WATER!
So many of the previous answers are just one-time quick fixes, not ways to prevent the problem. You want to prevent it from happening again.
So change your diet, exercise more often, drink lots of water, and you'll be fine!
