Some people, like me really dont eat what is considered a meal.
Going through my day I will have a small bowl of cereal in the morning. A few hours later maybe a banana (fruit of some sort). Later still cheese, olives, roll. Then maybe a packet of dried fruit and yogurt. We do have tea though as my partner works all day and is hungry when she comes home. This can be vegan or with meat depending on how I feel that day and what I want to cook.
How you eat is really based on your body. If you listen to what it says it will tell you what it is hungry for. We used to be hunters/gather-ers and I suppose thats how I eat most of the time.
I do think that 3 meals a day only makes your body have to adjust to its fuel consumption and the 5 or 6 smaller ones would be better.

er.1+2.er,bars, um, candy, junks, snack.erh.should i say, flowing integer?...naaah...3 at most...skip breakfast everytime..

I'm up early but I waste time changing music cds & looking for what to wear for work I miss breakfast. Lunch, sometimes but Dinner hell yeah, and to think Im trying to gain weight? its a sad case really.

4 - breakfast, lunch, dinner and then something else about 10 at night.
It seems strange that there isn't a fourth meal for night time - (except supper) I rarely go to bed before midnight and sometimes it seems I am doing things well past 2am and having eaten dinner at 6pm... I'm really hungry.

I have 3 main meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner, my largest meal being in the evening as I work all day.
I also have healthy snacks in between like fruit or cereal bars, but do have the odd bag of crisps or chocolate bar sometimes.

2 meals per day... medium lunch in the afternoon, and a large dinner at night. About 2-3 small snacks in between.
If you include the snacks as "small meals", then yeah I guess it could be considered 5 meals per day.
I've also heard of the trend that you speak of, supposedly it can help you lose weight.

Really I don't eat a big meal. I graze all day long. I maintain a healthy weight that way. Because you never get so hungry that you eat until you are sick. So yeah I would stick to eating more small meals a day rather than 3 bigger meals.

I eat unregularly- from 3to6 a day.. or 2 if away from home. But it's to better to eat smaller portions more often, than huge ones twice a day ( I don't mean snacs)

yeah good question.....there are many reliable sources where we can get this answer but they like really contradict.........well I tell myself that it doesnt really matter how many meals i eat per day so long as they are balanced diets.....so jas eat well balanced meals my dear.....
I actually eat upto 6 meals a day.....cheers hun....
