The notes about avoiding caffeine are true, do not exercise within 4 or 5 hours of when you are planning on sleeping...no TV in the room and nothing else that revs up your engine(only you know what that is)including exciting books or fast music. Guided imagery tapes or nature sounds are helpful..5-htp(a Melatonin precurser) and generic Benadryl are both helpful and have been known to put some into a sleep so deep it is difficult to function the next day so start at very low levels..try the Benadryl first as this is the most common sleep Aid in OTC products...then add the 5-htp one of each pill..about 20 minutes before bedtime take a hot bath and say nighty night!

well you can get Tylenol pm or excedrin pm...and they will help you sleep...anything that has pm on it is usually for the night and sleepless nights...if it continues you may talk to your doctor and let them prescribe some prescription medicine for really many sleepless nights........also taking a little nyquil will help you sleep...but you may be better off going to the doctor and getting a presciption medicine...

read a book, listen to relaxing new age music, like enya or clannad etc.

drink horlicks or herbal tea before bed.

take a nice relaxing bath full of essential oils like Lavender, or something that smel just as harmonious.

Do not go to bed if you are not tired as that will encourage you to think of any past worries you have or the previous days stresses and strains

take loads (and i mean shed loads) of sleeping pils (you need to or they dont work they are weak). if you are still tierd in the morning take some pro plus and some coffee

all the above are legal drugs you can buy over the counter

or try the ilelag way and smoke weed to help you sleep!

The secret is to totally forget about trying to get to sleep. Don't bother about it as trying just gets you more uptight when what you need is relaxation. Stop listening to hip hop and put some soothing music on. Burn some incense, take a nice hot bath before bed but don't forget newly washed bed linnen after the bath.........make love.

ok my situation, for not sleeping at night is my bed coed, she sleeps and snoors, farts and just sprawls over 6foot of bed...

if its not sleep cause someone else in my life it has been anxiety, sleep is a state which can think out curcumstances and scenarios play them out and solve problems on the mind, and it works, but to think about problems in your life b4 sleeping irrates me, crazy but true number 70, count down from number 70 in time with your breathing. if you get good at it count down from 99 in 3's.... i have seen it used in hypnotism and and seem to be the same as counting sheep


ohh and the bigg'y dont make a time to sleep just go when ever, but always wake early

I find having a good walk, and loads of Lavender oil scatttered on my pillow and sleeping with the window open helps me have a good nights sleep. Goodnight!x

Actually, the best herb to help with deep relaxation and sleep, is "Valerian extract, or valerian Root"... You can pick up bottles of it (available in capsule form, and sometimes in teas) ..at your local supermarket in the vitamin and herb section... "Valerian" extract/root, is completely harmless, 100% natural, and actually works better than most all over the counter sleeping pills!
